DISCLAIMER : This test was based on my own personal OPINION on the Bulbs, OzHonda or the Manufacturers of the Bulbs have in no ways influenced my decision that I made on this review :)

Ok, for the past week, I've purchased four different sets of Headlight Bulbs to test on my car and here are the photos..

TEST CAR : Accord Euro - Projector Style Driving Lights
BULBS : H1

BULBS TESTED : RayBrig Cool Blue (3850K), Osram Premium Whites Plus 50 (4000K I think), Hella Premium Xenon Halogen Plus 50 (3500K I think) and Philips Crystal Vision (4300K)

Here are the photos

First Up, RayBrig....

Next up, Hella Premium Plus 50 (50% Brighter)

Osram Premium Plus 50 (Forgot to take picture of it on driving lights, this was taken while it's in High Beam)
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v139/EuroAccord13/Lights/OsramPlus50.jpg

Finally, Philips Crystal Vision
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v139/EuroAccord13/Lights/PhilipsCV.jpg

It was a tight fight between The Osram, Philips and RayBrig..

Finally after some thought, I've settled for Philips Crystal Vision for the driving lights and Osram Plus 50 for the High Beams (Works VERY Well in High Beam). I've also changed the Parkers to Philips White bulbs included in the Crystal Vision package..

Parkers....

Headlight Combo.. Sorry about the dirty headlight protectors :)

HighBeam On....
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v139/EuroAccord13/Lights/Headlight3.jpg

Well I think that's about it...

My decision, Philips and Osram Joint First, RayBrig a VERY VERY close SECOND and lastly... Hella...

All these lights can't be clearly seen in the city but when you are travelling down unlit roads, they all work VERY well, all gave out good distance especially the Philips and Osram compared to the OEM ones. The RayBrig set sort or give out a more diffused projection on the road and the Hella is ok ok with it's projection. As for the Parkers, nothing much to say except it isn't that ugly Yellowish/Orange glow of the OEM bulbs..

High Beams using all the bulbs GAVE out VERY GOOD lighting and distance.. I was amazed how far the Osram set projected, even better than the Philips..

Thanks Nick - nicely done.

I have the Osram +50 too - they are a bargain for what they cost (I paid $16 or something like that per globe). The Philips "blue" style globes that Autobarn sell for $55-$120 are a waste of money in my opinion. A white globe is better.

So the Osram +50 on high beam is much better? I have the Osram on driving lights only at the moment.

by the way - did you find it easy to get to the driving globe? It was a bitch for me - ended up getting my dad to do it - a retired motor mechanic.

cheers mate

Nice one nick, I have to ask, is highbeam, low beam or both HID on the euro lux?

This is very helpful information, I thought the phillips would be a good purchase. I am looking at Phillips HID kit for my base model euro.

Only the Driving lights are HID :)

Most cars only have HID on their driving lights as HIDs don't really like to be switched on and off constantly... .

Actually, it's the bluish globes that make the light whiter... a clear bulb don't make it whiter :) It's a colour frequency thingy in physics :P

I am no expert on this - this guy (link below) seems to know what he is talking about - and says blue bulbs reduce the amount of light (even if it appears whiter). Apparently clear glass bulbs produce more light. That is all I care about - light throw and distance- which is why I went for the Osram SilverStar +50 with the clear glass. I am not convinced the expensive blue Philips globes sold in Autobarn are any better than my $35 Osram globes.

good read!

EDIT:
Product Description for crystal vision

Crystal Vision Performance Globes
CrystalVision is a very white light with a colour temperature of 4300K. The amount of light output is slightly less than that of a standard globe but is much whiter / bluish. Gives a definite blue appearance when you look into the headlight lens.

I agree but see, it comes down to branding too, and in the set, the Philips has white parkers in it too. But the Philips will indeed be whiter than the Osram Plus 50.... :)

I have no doubt the Philips is whiter (especially if it is a blue globe)-distance and light output is more important to me than how white the light appears. It depends on what you want out of a globe

Good pickup! One shop that shall remain nameless (Autobarn Cheltenham) tried to convince me these Philips globes were going to improve the light throw distance for my Euro lights (that is what I told them I was looking for). They said to get the top of the range Philips globe for $129. It was a good thing I walked away and did some research on the net about these globes...Like I said earlier - I think they are a waste of money - unless you want your car to look like it has HIDs but with reduced light output

I got mine from Repco in Glenhuntly Road Elsternwick. I think the correct name is "Osram Silverstars +50". They come in a small cardboard box and are sold individually for $16 or $17 each. Well worth the money.

The osrams took out the distance award in this comparo... Philips Cool blue - 20 metres behind!

And no - i don't work for Osram!

Colour will probably be exactly the same as your standard DC5 globe - neither more white or yellow.

Look in your car manual re what globe you need - I think mine were H1.

I found it tricky to install as my projectors are in an awkard position - I couldn't get my large hands into the opening. The high beams were easy though.

Your car manual explains how to install.
