hey guys n girls

at one stage i was thinking of doing springs and shocks but i have been convinced by ppl to do coilovers instead.

I relies that coilovers are always better then springs and shocks .. (better handling etc). But there is a price difference .... =[

I have came across coilovers .. brand new off ebay from a trader ..

hmm he wants abt $953 for a set (4 coilovers)

YOU ARE BUYING a SET OF QUALITY COIL OVER SUSPENSION

MASTER DAMPER UNIT - MDU

so does that mean i dont need to buy anything further .. just purchase theses coilovers and install it? no need to purchase anything extra equipment?

there in qld .. which worries me .. if it was in sydney i would go to the place to view it .. this n that ..

guys n girls what do you think?

hmm

the deal sounds pretty sweet if its $953 with everything i need ..

*im a noob regarding coilovers*

thanks guys

i would AVOID these coilovers . Low quality , wontlast too long. Usually seize , boots break etc. Crap stuff.

IMO just pay abit more and get something that will last.

pm EG5 for example....buddyclub N+ is a decent coilover.

or look at homerrules as a 2nd hand importer

1 or 2 finger gap is good

bennjamin
12-10-2008, 02:38 PM
dude if u dont care much for ride just get some king low springs. 2 inch r so drop ,will sit say a finger gap above the tyres. looks good enough.

otherwise i would buy some KONI yellowshocks , and some used ITR springs. Lower your ride and feel great.

For that price you may aswell save for a few weeks/months (depending on finances) and buy some Tiens or BC's

You can buy some Skunk2's (from ebay) for close to that price and they are a quality product

hmm so u reckn kingsprings 2inch all around wuld do 'Lukey's job ?

thats an orite height ...

if i had to do it .. i wuld change springs n shocks at the same time ..
my car is on 133km with original shocks n springs .. (stil hasnt been changed)

Lukey
12-10-2008, 02:56 PM
its like 1.5 - 2" all around.

although your shocks will wear out fast

adu
12-10-2008, 03:10 PM
sweet .. 2inch wuld do fine then ..

king springs here i come ..

yeh thats why im buyin 4 new shocks and 2inch kingsprings ..

if 2inch is ur height .. that shuld be sweet then =]

Lukey
12-10-2008, 03:18 PM
what shocks you getting?

you will want shortened shocks, stock height shocks will end up wearing out

adu
12-10-2008, 03:26 PM

Dude..

Have you seen the exchange rate lately??

When we were around the .92c mark it was just under $1k for them shipped to Aus, however with it sitting at .65c at the moment its going to cost a bit more.

Either way I do agree, stay clear of the MDU's. A quick google comes up with nothing but bad stories, no one seems to vouch for them at all.

Spend a little extra and get some Skunk2's, Buddyclub or Tein from an Australian shop so that if something goes wrong you have a local warranty.

for coilovers, skunk2 from america arent too bad. if they dont send it, you are covered by paypal for up to $30k.

but if you're getting skunk2, get the pro-c damper adjustables. pro-s makes your ass hurt.

i think i mite stick to springs n shocks ..

lmfaoo

i guess springs n shocks wil stil do the same job .. but i kno every1 wuld prefer coilovers ..

guys what do u think abt 2inch lowerings? thats an orite height ey? .. on stock 15inch blades?

Lukey
12-10-2008, 05:28 PM
should be fine.

adu
12-10-2008, 08:12 PM
GUYS ..

what do you think?

some dude post 'traders area'

2-2.25 inch drop from memory...
on 15 inch rims and 205/50 tyres u will have half to no finger gap between ur tyre and fender (eg civic)

used eg/dc kingsprings for abt 2000km ..?

if my teg blades r on 195/55/15 ... does that mean it wil be 2inchs ? i want my ride to be low BUT not that LOW to be defected ....

bennjamin
12-10-2008, 08:45 PM
yeah those will be fine.

PS when u get em feel free to pm me for a saving on install :)

Well if you know about wheels you will realise that the overall diameter will be the same if you do it properly. This means that if you do a 2" drop on your car on your stock blades it will be the same height as my dc2 with my 17"gramlights.

Im running type-r spring&shock combo in my dc2 and I think it dropped it just over an inch. Heres some pics for reference.

Its not super low but its practical for me (gutter friendly :))

smaller rims have more sidewall and more flex in tyres (static and dynamic) so the drop will be slightly more on smaller wheels.

Also , do you have your tyre dimensions ? 17's would be hard to be the exact circumference and diameter as 15's on 195x55x15

lil_foy
12-10-2008, 08:56 PM
If to correct pressure and profile it should be almost exact, if not a few mm.

My tyres on atm are off iirc, from memory they are 205x50x17 on a 7.5" wide rim.

So they are stretched.

Here is an interesting example.

Comparing to say 195x55x15 size

Your size described above is (in perfect psi and tread) 63.1cm (overall) where the 15 inch is 59.4cm . Thats 3.7cm difference in height.

Shit, made a typo in my original post. Like I stated I think my tyres are off.

I just checked on 2 tyre calculators and it appears my tyre has almost the same diameter. *note I did a typo in my op I ment 205/40/17*

lil_foy , yeah my point is smaller rims will pretty much always make a car lower than larger diameter rims - mostly because of the larger sidewall. With everyday driving the tyres will squish and deform and often bottom out too.
