hey im just wonderin if anyone could clarify how to recognise the different gearboxes between DC4 , DC2 and DC2R

I knoe its something to do with S80 number. Im just tryna figure out if i have different gearbox because i had a look at 2 of my friends DC4's and there gearboxes look completely different to mine. Was there an update with the DC4 box range??

DCR2 is S80, and should have LSD written on it.

Correct me if i'm wrong, Aussie DC2 vtir runs on B18c2 and originally y80 gearbox that doesn't comes with LSD...

on the other hand S80 appeared to come with LSD in B18c5 the USDM Version of DC2 type R and S80 without LSD in USDM normal DC2 (GS-R)

If based on your nick you are having a DC4 with B18c7 it could mean that the engine was swapped to an AUDM type R motor but leaving the original Db4 gearbox that runs S80 that doesn't comes with LSD


FYI, AUDM dc2 type R has the same gear box as JDM 98 + spec gearbox which is N3E (LSD). JDM 96+ spec is running on J4D (correct me if ive made a mistake in the codes) with LSD... the difference between the JDM 96 spec and 98 spec is the final gear ratio.

If i'm not mistaken they are the same. AUDM Final Gear Ratio is 4.785 which is similar to the JDM 98+Spec R... the only difference between the JDM 98 spec R and the Audm is the engine Horse power... i think Jdm is higher by 10hp and has slightly higher compression..

i just bought a type r box. it has the s80 code but does not have a lsd sign on it. . .

my ITR gearbox doesnt have a LSD stamp on it.
Only because i have swapped the outer case. Also chemicals and cleaners can remove the stamp

look thru the diff hole of the gearbox. (where the two driveshafts sit)

can you see thru it?
Or is there a bar across the hole ?



if you can see thru it (all the way thru) it is a LSD gearbox.
If there is a bar across or two smaller half bars ,its a open wheeled gearbox.

s80 can be either ITR or vtir.
I've been looking into this also.
As ben said the see if you see straight thru (LSD) if you see gears block non-lsd

VTi-R gearbox around 500-800 mark depending on condition
ITR is around 1k-1.5k

4.785 box from factory were off the series 2 dc2r 97/98 on, and all came with factory gear type lsd.

all the below is for jdm boxes ie jap spec cars.

y21 is off a b16a eg 6/9 and came in lsd and non lsd spec. depending on spec level when bought new.

y80 is off 93-95 integra twin round headlights and came in lsd and non lsd depending on the spec level off the car when bought new.

s80 is from face lift integras. in late 95-97 spec type r had a helical lsd

s80 from 98 spec type r on helical lsd with higher final drive ratio

s80 also from face lift integra sir b18c NON lsd

ok im back. i just bought an ITR box from honbits and i had the same issue. it has a bar inside the hole. i really need some clarification on this b4 i go back and complain.

i asked the guy who delivered the box what is that bar inside and he sed that it was a seperator or something like that for the driveshafts to fit it. . .

i dont but i know what it looks like - you can see straight thru (the same size as the driveshaft splines)

Just bumping up a old thread but where is the lsd stamp, i cant find mine just a sticker with s80-XXX
