Average 470km/tank, with occasional VTEC here and there.

No mods except for CAI.

I get around 450 as well :( not as fuel efficient as I thought it would be.

I get around 470Ks aswell - rolling stock with PRM intake. Larger wheels also contribute to decreased fuel effeciency due to increased engine load, increased surface contact area and increased weight.

Damn, i only get 350k's!!! and thats hardly with any vtecing!!

Ferrari

I just get 400's and its usually around the 380 mark when the light comes on.

I don't do highway much though.

Ferrari
13-10-2008, 08:18 PM
my car only ever gets to about 45 litres needed to refuel it fully, maybe thats why I get less kms

mr_vtec
13-10-2008, 08:25 PM
yea me too i fill up and it stops around the 42litre mark..

the light went on for me at around 370kms mark..

how much do u guys push it once the light goes on??

how much do u guys push it once the light goes on??

I've been a good 15km past the 5th empty light.

When my light comes on, my fuel bar is at 3 bars. When it gets down to one, another one always comes on afterwards. Its at this point, I find a servo rather pronto.

400 km per 40 litres

18-10-2008, 11:47 AM
Wow, this is really strange. Even stock I only managed to get 350ks out of it. I figured that was pretty low because my brother was saying he got about 400ks out of his..
What's causing such a variance in the k's between cars? Obviously depends how the car is driven but even when i drive the car conservatively I still only get around 350kms. Imagine an extra 100ks from a full tank wowzers!

I need help. Going for a major soon. Any suggestions?

i get an average of 480km+ (granny driving style i suppose...), this tank im sitting on 494 so far, got 2 sticks remaining.

mr_vtec
18-10-2008, 04:43 PM
i got 440 out of my tank and the light was on for say 5 kms so there wasnt anything wrong with the car just um might have changed my driving style...

im getting roughly 440ks, with VERY frequent v-tecing lol.

do you guys drive in 6th gear at about 70kms? or do u guys still stay in 5th.

I realise sometimes im even in 6th at about 60ks lol, maybe thats why my fuel comsumption isnt too bad considering the amount of 9000rpm i do lol.

fto222
19-10-2008, 02:44 AM
I get around max 340Km.
Used to get around 450Km stock.

Basic rule is if you want more power and speed you need to put in more fuel.
Perhaps some exceptions, but usually is the case I think....
Also, as others have pointed out about the condition of your car I suppose. The more your car is in good condition, such as low Kms, wheel aligned properly, engin in good condition etc will take in less fuel...

Sorry to state the obvious....
:)

Either way, only getting about 340Km out of the full tank is a bit of a pain in the butt since you have to fill up so frequetly...
:(

s2000 tank is only 45L I checked honda s fuel consumtion forthe car and is is about 340 a tank combined... the only time I get good fuel economy is with high way driving ...With my other honda s once I changed the exhaust and air cleaner fuel economy went up. May be the s2 needs a better exhaust

my best (worst) is 127km from one tank...

but on the street I usually get 320kms...a lot of heavy traffic driving etc.

rastus
19-11-2008, 12:58 PM
hmm.
I regularly get just over 500 (highest 536).
With multiple daily vtec and daily stuck in traffic driving.
When not going too fast.. or stationary in traffic, I am a fairly passive driver (with music screeming to keep me sane)

When cruising along, I get to 6th asap.. there really is enough torque to wander along in freeflowing traffic from 50km/hr.. downshift to second or third if you need to get moving. (keeping in mind that 2nd redlines at just over 100, so you have a lot to play with)

Running standard AP1 with CAI and K&N filter.

Typically use Shell Vpower.

On mine.. the fuel light will usually come on around 450ish but you can go well beyond that.

Over the last 7000km have averaged 8.81 l/100km
as high as 9.44 l/100km and as low as 8.49 l/100km.

Spec sheets indicate that it should be 9 l/100km.. so pretty well on the mark for me.

Fuel consumption is really about long term driving styles.. not the odd blat that you may make. so if you spend most of your time calm.. and get wild for short amounts of time.. all is good..

eriktufa
19-11-2008, 06:31 PM
500 is awesome!!!

I only can get 10l/100km on average..

Ferrari
20-11-2008, 08:35 PM
I couldnt get 500kms even if I did 70km/h in 6th downhill and in a straight line till the tank ran dry! What are you doing. I get avg 350 I work in the city now, so it isnt as good. Less vtec, but so much stop start.

ludecrs
20-11-2008, 09:55 PM
I get over 350 with the S/c bolted on LOL.

i took out my silencers on the weekend, and my consumption has gone up muchly.... though that could also be due to the aural pleasure of foot to the floor more often since theres no silencers LOL.

sho

Had my car 2.5 - 3 weeks now, just finished second tank.

1st tank = 380+Km's with lots of vtec-ing and highway + hills.(Vpower)

2nd tank = 500+Km's with a few vtec-ing and some highway + hills (BP Ultimate)

Well I found out the hard way today.......

I got 469km out of my tank before it died on the highway on the way to work this morning..... I usually get 380-400km so its good to know I'll get 50km out of the reserves...

Funnily enough, my fuel guage still said I had 1/3 a tank.......

Lesson learnt? Don't trust your fuel guage....

Ferrari
01-01-2009, 07:03 PM
That sounds very odd, that the fuel guage is reading that wrongly. Where you driving down everest?

ludecrs
01-01-2009, 09:01 PM
Yer very odd indeed. We changed the fuel pump 10000 km ago, no problems.

Then today, it just..... doesn't tell me how much is actually in the tank, instead chosing to tell me its good for another 150+km.......

Put some fuel in it from a jerry can, didn't go up, so then went to the petrol station, filled to the top, and the guage said I had a full tank. Drove to work 1hr late, got home this afternoon, and it had dropped like normal.....

Very odd.

i went 2 honda 2day about oil and der like 2 me....if u dont want ur oil 2 run out quickly, u have 2 drive the car like ur thrashing it because there designed 2 be pushed so i guess if i wanna keep my oil at a optimum range i gotta thrash it more =D

As your 4wks into ownership now, I'd suggest one thing.

Checkyour oil level now, compared to how it was when you purchased it.

Some S2000's burn through it real quick. A few of the guys on the forums top up once a week as they fill at the servo.

when you guys are quoting the distance you get, do you fill up, work out the mileage per gallon and then work out the distance that you would have reached if the tank ran dry? By my calculations I would get over 550kms per tank with occasional V Teching and some highway driving as well as around town driving and the enigine/filters etc are all kept pristine and tyre pressure is quite hard.Running on stock wheels and Bridgestone Adrenaline tyres.

Yeah i am using 98 oct. maybe i filled up a bit early as i still had 3 bars (got a bit scared of what ludecrs said with running out :P) nother new tank tho caltex, done 210kms have half a tank left and that is with no Vtecing at all. missis wont rev it over 4.5k even if i ask :P so ill see how this tank goes...
Might look into changing my plugs and air filter they are due about now, that might make a difference.... im not really worried about the fuel but if you guys are getting more i wanna see if i can get up there to :)

420KM/AVG on Vortex Premium fuel
450KM/AVG on BP Ultimate
380KM/AVG on Shell Optimax/VPower (whatever they call it these days)

I do a combination of freeway/city driving - heavy foot upon entry of freeways, always. lol

Yep same here - hitting V-Tech is a MUST! I get between 350-400 tops I'd say.

hmm.

lately i've been getting at or around 11L/100km, AC on some of the time, with quite a bit of redline.

I do a lot of freeway driving too.

Fuel cons went up quite a bit when I got the new wheels/tyres. Must be the rolling resistance/bad toe settings in the rear. time for an alignment

I have been driving with AC on most of the time, usually with top up. I always keep air filter as clean as I can. Reglular oil changes and lately using Penrite HPR 5 or something. I did try some Bitron additive once when I got the car (almost 18 months ago) as I used to use that in my Civic and think that it actually does something.
Strangely when I am just driving around town, fuel consumption is not a lot worse. Have now almost 600km and was two bars left until I parked the car and then it dropped to one bar on fuel gauge.
Always keep the wheel alignment spot on as I don't want the tyres to wear more than they wear when it is done on purpose.
Oh have stock AP1 wheels.

I want to know how people get a comfortable 500 from their tanks!! But I think I can squeeze 460ish if I let it go 0 bars, because it's a bit inaccurate when it goes down low.. But a comfortable 500 is where i wanna be at! Maybe the exhaust helps it breathe better... hrmmm.. I also hear alot of good things about grounding kits, anyone have one and noticed any difference?

My highest on a full tank would probably be 470kms...
I'd love to reach 500 comfortably lol.
