.. I don't think there is much point in changing to type R pistons. What's the point of these modifications ? considered larger displacement ? Turbo route ?

Isnt b16b the EK9 engine? o_0

So why would you want type-r pistons?

maybe the integra ones

If you instant power get a turbo. Keep in mind you cant run too much boost as the compression ratio is high.

NA - Things like light weight fly wheel will help your engine rev easier as there is less weight to move. 4.7 or higher final drive is a good upgrade aswell makeing your gearing shorter/taller. Combine the 2, and your car will accelerate much faster off the line and rev quicker/easier reaching peak power faster. Note that these mods wont make anymore power but will use your engines existing power.

maybe the integra ones

the CTR pistons are the highest comp OEM pistons in the type R motors, getting the DC2R ones would wont make him have less power , their pistons are less domed - less compression, People with b18CR motors or b18c2 etc, do a 'minor' upgrade using the CTR pistons to help them yield more power from the compression increase

PS Hondaz - why do you want 'JDM pistons' if is a b16b motor, you already have 'JDM' pistons, and like I said , highest comp pistons made from the honda factory.

Miss type B16A with a B :p

You want power... 1.8 crank is the way to go. Your block size is the same as a B18c. if you are staying with your CTR pistons, you need your car tuned as well... I wouldn't be running stock maps with such high compression...

Would explain the JDM Type R pistons but then again, Hondaz may have a B16B.

Could get new headers?

Bore to 1.8L

im with you dread, if you've spent the big $$ on b16b then surely you would know what you got. Post some pics of the engine bay and perhaps one of us could assist you. It seems you've already got everything we suggest...

Either ask the previous owner what the cars running so you don't happen to **** up a motor like some legendary owners I know or take it to a mechanic to get the low down on your car =|

Honestly talking about modifying your car without solid knowledge on whats actually been done isn't healthy for your bank account or your car.

Huh? Your three posts in a row saying pretty much the same thing confuse me.

I will be honest and say I do not understand you 100%

Good luck.

from reading this thread it sounds like you have a pretty decent b16b, you even said the previous owner stoked it to a 1.8. Not sure why you would need any more power as you should have more than enough for everyday use.

sound like you have very little knowledge about your own car. are you sure you didnt get ripped off by the previous owner. he could have told you its got this and that and i think you would not have a clue what he is goin on about.

i would put more time and effert into find out the history of the car first before doing anything else.
