hey guys,
was jus wonderin bout adding petrol additive to my em1.. usually we add these products to our other cars to increase the fuel efficiency of the cars.. works rather well, but these cars run on regular Unleaded whereas my EM1 runs on premium unleaded.. do you guys think there is any point in adding the additive?.. or can i simply NOT add them...? thanks guys..

in my opinion save ur money
theres only one or two brands that actually work anyway
and they raise the ron by one or two points max
and unless u have heaps of mods and u running at sustained hige rpms dun tink u need the additives
anyone want to correct me???

Folks,
Have a look at

http://www.lubedev.com/smartgas/additive.htm

applies to all ..perhaps..
I have been using as per instructions but too many variables to conclude anything yet ..
100% Acetone available at Kmart or Bunnings.. between $8 to $10 per liter

I used an octane booster and it fried my plugs, fouled my fuel system for a long time, which ment more fouled plugs.

I have used injector cleaner, but never used octane boost.
Always thought it was too much $$ for the few kw's u get...

Does it really do anything?

Save your money, I just use clean injector additive every time I do a service.
other then that just get some expensive unleaded, like Optimax, Castrol or BP
they already add some cleaning agent and other chemical into the fuel.

I've never used a fuel additive in mine - but I have been running exclusively on 98 Ron PULP (Optimax/Vortex gold/Ultimate) since Optimax first came out (I think in 2001?).

You pay a bit more for the fuel, but the results are worth it IMO. More milage per tank is a given, but also seems to run a bit better too. The advertising spiel is that they already contain additives that clean your fuel systems as you go, as well as having a higher octane rating for more power.

I think if you use a better quality fuel, it will be worth it in the long run, as your engine will last longer.

hahahaha

i hear hampsters & guinea pigs are awesome additions for power.
just have them sitting inside your engine bay and they do all the work.

LMFAO !! someone's been watching Mythbusters hahaha.. when I saw what the mothballs did for that old and tired Small-Block Chevy, I almost went out and bought mothballs right away !! the thing went from a clunker to sounding like a full race-tuned V8 !!

anyone got an older carb'd civic that wants to try it out ?

Keep away from the injector cleaner, it doesn’t do good things to your fuel lines. It eats away at the rubber hoses. I’d only clean them if you were having problems and then I would have them ultrasonically cleaned

If you do use mothballs make sure they are the 99% naphline ones. As that’s the octane booster. Kit used to do this. do a search for mothballs. i think it was one ball per 10L.
