Why??!?!?!

Get an oil pressure gauge. It also moves, but tells you vital and useful information.

air to fuel hooks up to your O2 sensor, and just hooks up to power somewhere.

There is colour codes for wires to the ecu somewhere.

:D

Stock O2 sensor is a narrowband, which reads "OK", "LEAN" and "RICH". It isn't going to work with a gauge. You need to plumb in an aftermarket O2 sensor somewhere before the cat.

Get an oil sandwich plate for $50, some 1/8" NPT plugs, liquid thread sealant and you're sorted.

You'll have to read the tacho signal off the back of the instrument cluster. If you have instructions to install an Apexi RSM, it will be similar. Find the tacho signal wire.

Because your engine bay is so tight, you might have to remove the windscreen cowl so that you can get a clear view of your firewall.

lol jack it up bro. but yeah im just happy i got my tacho working oh oh and u know it has two colours. white and amber. im gnna hook up the amber wire to my vtec. so when vtec kicks in it turns amber WOOT

I heard the hole is just under your accelerator pedal... i found this out after drilling a hole under the passenger side floor mats.

sandwich plate won't work with the fd, because there just very little room where the stock oil filter is, don't waste your money on it.

hook it up to your oil sensor on ur ecu. but in that case you have to get an electronic gauge.

ps. applio how did u do ur light. its so purrrty

here is my little setup for my gauges

all the wire go though the little plastic of the little triangle window

here is the wire comes out at the engine bay

http://i101.photobucket.com/albums/m47/ebuyproduct/DSC03574.jpg http://i101.photobucket.com/albums/m47/ebuyproduct/DSC03575.jpg

here is where i tape the "t" piece of the vacuum hose
http://i101.photobucket.com/albums/m47/ebuyproduct/DSC03576.jpg http://i101.photobucket.com/albums/m47/ebuyproduct/DSC03578.jpg

here is where i hook up the oil pressure sender and oil temp sender, tried with the sandwich plate, but no luck at all, it just tiny little space down where the stock oil filter is, so i custom make some hose and adapt to where the stock oil pressure sensor unit is.

Electrical means it uses a sensor, which sends and electrical signal to the gauge. That is the type you should get. The other type is mechanical, which has the vacuum line running all the way to the gauge, which you do not want.

ej20i
25-10-2008, 11:38 PM
where can u get that electrical signal to the gauge??since eveyone is using the vaccumm line...is it like easier or something?

The gauge comes with an electrical pressure/vacuum sensor. You plumb that into your vacuum line. The output of the sensor is 2 wires which send the signal to your gauge.

If it was a mechanical gauge, you put a T-pieces and run a rubber vacuum hose all the way into the passenger compartment and into the gauge.

26-10-2008, 04:16 PM
ooo...so it relly works the same way??plugs into the same line??
benefit would be...smaller wire, easier to hide??
am i gettin this correctly?

Exactly! Another plus is that electrical wire is less like to fail with age than a rubber vacuum hose running all the way into your cabin.

It shows gauge pressure. The gauge pressure of the atmosphere around us is 14.7 psi. When you have suction, the pressure drops, hence it dropping from 14.7psi to 0psi. If you want the pressure gauge to go up, you need positive pressure instead of suction, which means TURBO. That's the reason why I tell everyone not to get a vacuum gauge for an NA car.

the reading is strange, when car at idle should around between 17-21, 13 is not normal

I think his engine was cold, so the throttle was opened more than at warm idle.

ej20i

cold engine..
the benefit was
RICE!!!
