it will cost u roughly around 2 - 3k to respray the whole car...
if you don't mind me asking... why you resprayin the same colour?
to repray a car a different colour you have to remove all the panels and the engine. otherwise engine bay, door sills, underneith the boot, under the bonnet will still be the original colour.

you it would cost around 3.5 to 4 k for outside only with door jams but not the boot, athough the same colour will look nice if you flow coat it and cut it back so theres no orange peel through the paint , look flat like a mirror

I wouldn't say 'really good'. I've seen his work its alright for the price you pay.

Anyways this thread should be moved elsewhere, has nothing to do with a S2000.

seeing as your respraying the same color should be cheaper since they wont have to do the door jams or engine bay.
Your car is usually parked in the garage man? just give it a full detail unless someone has keyed it or there are deep scratches.

do you know a good place to have the car full detailed?
or is it just better off doing it yourself?

hmm to be honest, id rather spend the time and money on detailing it myself rather then getting someone to do it. if you dont have time then fair enough.
get the steps for meguires wash, polish, wax its in a marone bottle good stuff. thats for a buffing machine though.
for something easier you can just use a wax thats called aqua wax made from autoglym saves you from drying you car just have to spray the wax on and the water just turns into a wax soluble and makes your car looking shmick. if not use meguires tech wax 2.0 just came out makes the car paint look like its so shiny that it looks wet.

If your going to detail a car expessially an S2000 i wouldn't look at meguires except for the Clay Bar system.
I would recommend (based on very very broad experience)
- Meguires Clay Bar Pack
- Poor Boy's SSR 1 / 2 (Depending how deep scratches/imperfections are)
- Poor Boy's EX-P Synthetic Sealant
- P21S Concours Pure Carnauba Wax
If you don't want to spend the extra $70 on wax then simply apply the sealant let it cure for 24 hours then apply another coat (garage it and don't drive it during this period otherwise it will need a re-wash). I would recommend the wax for any deeper/darker or metallic colours as it brings out the depth of the paint.
Use a machine buffer (preferably Rotory if your comfortable with using one) for the cutting compound but you can use Hand Applicators for the sealant. Also leave the sealant on the paint for 30-45 minutes then proceed to buff off excess polish.
The results will amaze you. Professional people usually get your car looking good for a week...no real lasting protection or shine.
Don't forget...No one will care for your car as you do! ;)

^^ Very True
Also for a respray... expessially for an S2000 you would want a very well prepared/sprayed paint job. TwoPack. To be honest Even doing just the outside I would not expect to pay any less than $4000 most likely in the mid to high $4K's. Anything lower and the paint job won't be up to the standard wanted for an S2000. Unless you know someone who does good work in a back-yard or something as most businesses that do a good job have to make a much higher profit in order to cover material and labour costs etc.

If your wanting to go bare metal (only really needed if you have sunfade, flaking or crows feet) look upwards of 4g.
If you want an exterior respray only you shouldnt pay more than 3g (includes rubbing back, respray, clear and bake)
If your sticking with the same colour you wont need to do engine bay and door jams.
Save your self a bit of $$ by taking off bumpers, fenders, skirts, etc...
im getting my spray job at formosa @ granville. Ive sen their work and sum ppls from ozhonda have gotten resprays there 2! giv them a ring 9637 7778

no deep scratches yet.... thank god....

i don't have any deep scratches but you know how you can see light or circle motion scratches when you see it in directions from the light.
esp from black and red cars.
my mate got a white s2k and can't see nothing at all.
just gets to me sometimes and paying for 3g to respray isn't worth it. i rather spend it on time attack rims or J's racing kit and spray that.

most shops will charge you 3-4 for a full respray inside and out,
depending on paint color/brand/pearl/candy etc

how many times can you strip/cut & wax before it ruins the paint?
it's the 'cut' word that puts me off doing it..

I've only ever washed my car at this place. Have you actually tried their detailing service? To be honest I've never seen anyone detail their car at this place. Most of the cars I see just come in for a clean (in and out).
So if you have tried their detailing service please let me know what you thought. Since its close to my house I wouldn't mind giving it a shot, especially to clean my seat fabric, its filthy.

aw depends really. it's easier to do with white. but red and blue you cant do it many times other wise the colour looks thin and faded. but you could do it about 3 or 4 times in the safe zone

yeah i agree. everytime i drive around BP it's always nice cars and full shiny and clean.
the blu paint on my car seems faded.. looks great when i wash it and the cars wet.. but as soon as i dry it.. it looks.. not that great.. u think a home job detailing.. clean, buff, clay bar, wax would bring it back to a brand new blu look or will i have to respray it? cheers..
also.. my CF hood is worn.. looks like oxidisation from the sun or sumthing, could i just sand that back and clearcoat it. or better to leave it to a shop to fix it.. or could i use the plastic polish i use on the headlights and rear plastic window?

haha reviving an old thread zomg.
You just need a professional cut and polish detail home job won't cut it unless you're real good, but you defiantly don't need a full respray.
