Just wandering guys, is there any possibility of buying a dc5r for 20k or under? Im asking this because most of dc5r owners/potential sellers are probably on ozhonda. So would potential sellers consider selling their dc5r for less than 20k (of course depending on the condition & kms...). i've seen dc2r go for less but i dont like the look of the car, no offence for dc2r fans...its just my own personal opinion.
Im also thinking about searching for dc5 but they seem to lack power and imo its not worth buying a dc5 that is not an R, as they have a lot less power and lack the looks of the R (no mods needed). SO it all comes down to the price; i've seen dc5 (standard, limited ed,luxury) starting from about 15k onwards (after nego); so is it worth buying the standard, limited ed,luxury version dc5? as i only have 20k to spend. Please advise. Thanks
Anyone selling ??

hahaha.
no
new dc2r go for 20k. do you really think a dc5r would go for less?
haha its possible man, i got my dc5r 2001 with 99000kms tip top condition for 17500. Guy was eager to get rid of it, and i offered to take it off his hands on the next business day and he agreed. His advert on carsales was for $21,000.

new dc2r??
seconds mate. im just asking...
Yeh, there are a couple of dc2r selling above 20k on carsales for example, but after nego...(buyers wont buy at prices advertised - the ones selling over 20k wont have any buyers unless its in A1+1+1 condition and REALLY low kms)

not unless its at auctions and somethings wrong with it...
i vaguely remember an s2k that sold down the road from my work at fowles for like $11k.
had an internal fire from the electric seats on drivers side... easy fix nothing inside was burnt except for smoke marks on the glass

DAMNNNNNNN, thats a bargain her0...if only an opportunity like that comes my way...
haha yeah i was pretty lucky, at the time i was looking for a dc2r because it was more in my price range. But for some reason i decided to check out the dc5r for fun, and found out the seller's situation and took advantage of it ;)
ended up with much more than i expected to begin with.
'twas a GOOD DAY. hahaah

Don't buy a repairable write off either.
That's just ghey and a huge compromise. Never do that.

You will almost never find a dc5r at a car dealer for less then 20k.. you will almost never find a private sale of a dc5r under 20k.. but you may get lucky at a auction, where they sell the car of from repossession or something.

That looks alrite man since probably can get it down to 18 or so...just the kms is just a tad high and its all the way in SA. If it had 90000kms-110000kms i would look it up... paying exactly 20k for decent dc5r with 90000-110000kms on the odo sounds too cheap?

we'll a guy is selling his for 22500 on here thats pretty cheap considering all them guys wanting theres for 26+ so im guessing its possible. personally i think buying a repairable write off is fine if it's been done properly

20k is possible, all depends how badly they want to get rid of it.
my friends selling his for 15k, 01 model with 150,000kms. got scratches all over the body
but hes abit of a prick, wants a hassle free sale, expects someone to offer him 15k and just sign it over without inspecting.

thats considerable, that much kms for 15k. But i dont think anyone would want to buy it b4 inspecting it, coz 15k goes a long way these days. $15000 could buy you 37500 two-min noodles @ 40 cents each.it could feed a mini country :)
Well, if anyone wants to get rid of their dc5r then pm me.

Not a wise decision... you might get lucky if the person has genuine reasons for getting rid of their dc5R.. e.g. leaving the country, upgrade etc etc.. Being a very awesome car.. not many ppl are willing to it at such low prices.. <20k... unless something is really wrong with it..
If I were you.. I would work a little harder for the next 2-3months and spend that 3-4k extra on a good condition one.. (Most go for 25-26k.. do some bargaining...) Don't let price dictate your choice, as it often leads to finding lemons instead...
Just my 2.5cents worth.. :)

yeh thanks for the advice, my budget of 20k-21k is a bit tight i guess...but afterwards i still have to pay for insurance so that is the reason im looking for one under 20k.

There are several other performance cars under that budget.. insurance is always a bitch when it comes to performance cars... a factor that we must all bear.. If you're a citizen or PR of Australia.. you could try register it under your parent's name.. and insure yourself as an additional driver.. Works out to be alot more cheaper than putting it under your name.. (I'm assumming you're 18-25++) .. LOL :)

Yeh, i'll be going third party most likely (im still on P's)...There are other cars...but considering i'm going to keep it for 4 years or so i might as well get something that is pretty good rather than regretting it later. DC5R is top on the list along with an s15 autech import; but considering the exchange rate is REALLY sh*t atm, the price for importing an autech is pretty much the same as dc5r (20k ish), so its either one of these cars. Plus,I've been saving up for yonks and aint nothing gona stop me now...hopefully...wuahaha

Km's too high...n for that price...no one will buy it and it'll still be on carsales for a while.
AHHHH...i regret missing out on that blue dc5r selling for 18k with only 80,000kms on the odo...so sh*t.
i guess the only option is to wait, if your patient enough, the right car will come along. I looked around for a type r for around 3 months or so, finally found one i was happy with, and was cheap as too!

whats the possibility of getting a Ferrari for under $2000.00 ?!?

I believe, if you havent got the money, don't buy it.
Trying to sell my EJ8 and have constant disrespectful offers from nobodies who obviosuly don't have money has made me hate lowballers with such passion.
So, of you don't have the dosh, don't bother. Keep saving. Don't forget to factor in stamp duty, other tax, rego, maintenance etc etc.

for me, it has been tough time to sell car during this period
so i reckon this is very best time for car buyer's to do bargaining, i am confidence there is possibilty of getting the car under 20k ,

no amount of 'connections' can get it in for you.. if your referring to rebirthing it's a HUGE fine.
good luck claiming insurance if you get into an acco....

Thanks for all the feedback/advice guys :) I'm going to wait a bit longer and save up a bit more. Gonna postpone my hunt for a dc5r later; uni exams coming up very soon...When I decide to buy it tho, I'm still going to bargain my ass off...and not gonna pay anything above 21-22k...
