I'm having lots of difficulties removing the bolts on my trailing arm.
1. The (Octagon) bolt which connects the lower control arm (LCA) to the trialing arm. :(
2. The two screws in front of the disc brakes.

The octagon bolt is becoming rounded... and I'm afraid i might kill the screws in front of the disc brakes if I keep going.

Need some assistance.

rounded? make sure you have the right size
should be 14mm from memory
if you completely round it, it's going to be tough to get out later

with the retaining screws, hit it with some wd40 or similar
either use an impact screw driver
or get a large screw driver that fits the grooves VERY well
use your full body weight and push into the screw while turning

take pictures.

The screws that hold the rotor to the hub? your suppose to use a impact driver for that. if not, drill it out and replace it later.

Noticed the large dark volume of wd40. ==;; both failed. probably need the right tools. With the slight rounded bolt, thinking I might use a file and file it down to get a proper groove... hope it'll work.

yep 14mm bolt, make sure you're doing it the right way
iirc that bolts pretty hard to round if you have the right sized socket
i've taken mine off about 10 times in the last 2 weeks and it still is in great condition

as i've mention above if you don't have a impact screw driver use the body weight + philips head screw driver and lots of wd40
just keep constant pressure on it and keep turning and it should crack off

I probably need to obtain the right tools somehow, lol bad move shoulda went to look for the tools before taking apart the trailing arm. Hoping to get some help from peeps down in Melbourne.

Just a breaker bar wil do. Say foot long one and 14mm socket. bigger ur breaker bar the easier to crack it open.

get someone to step on the trailing arm while u trying to crack the bolt open.

yes u need a impact driver, its easy to round the screws too. just drill it out and get new screws from wreckers or just go to super cheap and ask one of the dudes about impact driver. its about 20 bucks for one. very useful.

if ur cheap and dont have a breaker bar.. then just get some kind of metal pole ~ works the same way :)

is it possible to angle grind and drill the bolt through

my kingchrome socket wont stay on the bolt.

dont use multi hex socket.. try get ur hands on a single hex socket, since its rounded u might have to hammer the socket on.. should be less hard to round

*slaps*

Guys n girls....in future.....follow these steps to sucessfully remove most ifnotall nuts n bolts.

1. spray a good amount of WD40 or similar dispersant over bolt/nut - let soak for abit.

2. Grab a 6 faced socket piece (NOT a multi-faceted piece) in the desired size.
3.grab a breaker bar,or decent ratchet and apply even force to the nut/bolt.Leverage is your friend.

Had to be done man, it was rounded to a limit where that was the only solution else I woulda used the single hex.

i think ben meant initially before it was rounded :p
don't keep going at it if you've slipped more than twice on the single hex i reckon

i always use the multi faced socket, i just always soak the bolt in wd40 and use the pole from my hydro jack. works a charm

very few bolts need more than a breaker bar to loosen them on our cars i think

the only bolt i can think of that actually needs a cheater bar is the spindle nut

if you can't get it of when putting constant force try to shock it off i.e. position the breaker bar/ratchet/wrench on and hit it with your hand or a hammer to give it the shock it might need to loosen the seal
