hey
just some quick questions
my gear stick seems pretty soft compared to some other preludes i've been in. not that i mind.but i think newer cars normally have stiffer gear sticks.

what does it mean when the stick is in neutral and you can wobble it around a little?

when i push it left it's slightly easier than pushing it right. i guess because gears 1 to 4 is used heaps more than 5th gear...

is there a way to improve the feel of a gearbox?

i've heard that the shifter cables or something can be tightened.
i had my MTF changed a few months ago as well but the feel didn't change much from before. i don't have any problems with the gear box except it's a little harder to downshift into second sometimes.

car has done 180,000km btw

cheers!
so..i just did a quick google search and i've found you need to buy a few things and it can take under an hour to change from inside the car.

is this a DIY thing?
lol

if it's anything like eg/ek/dc then its just 2 bushings
one at the end of the stabiliser rod which bolts on to the gearbox
and one that holds the other end of your linkages to the chassis

easily changed within an hour

might be the bearing in the shifter rod also or the bolts may have loosened over time.
