its funny that you said that, cos its his old setup, i just fixed his problems, rebuilt it and made it more reliable... 4 to 8hrs a night for six months straight of sweat and tears

sound be interesting man! how come you are useing the stock camshaft? i thought it origionally running a zex?

myztery
26-10-2008, 07:58 PM
it did but we took it out cos it was causing us problems apparently it wears out heaps and changes lift dramatically compared to oem, for some reason the oem got rid of some of the lag...

egturbo

4 to 8hrs a night for six months straight of sweat and tears

Its been over 3 years since i owned the car. Its been threw atleast one more owner, so i wouldnt say they were my problems.

Let us know how the reliablity turns out, i quite interested to see some closure here. Interesting news re the zex cam. I see ur making alot less power/psi, and the powerband is topping out quicker..

That engine has a lot of love in it :)

So good to see this awesome engine went to a good owner.

Tell me about it.In my strongest and proudest moments I am put down by others but hey that's life. The sooner you get that the sooner you can power on with your life and be confident in the decisions you make.

It must have been so rewarding (even now, always!) working on the engine, all those late nights :) Wicked!

I know I know, tell me about it.Not just about d-series engines but just the judgeing of other's.

I mean life would be a lot more enjoyable if we could all try and be happy for each other's accomplishments, talk to each other in a respectable manner AND LEARN.

So much more knowledge could be gained if we just tried to treat each other with respect.

You would have so much knowledge to give yet why the hell would you bother making the effort to share.

mate i have a b series and i dun mind the D.
Let me know when you head out to eastern creek, i'm looking forward to go again.
I'm making similar power also 162kw @ 10psi
but i'm only running a GT28R with a stock motor, i'm looking at upgrading soon also.

btw... just courious when does boost kick in for you?

kicks in at around 3-4rpm
and vtec is set from zero from what i remember

there's a few more tweeks i wanna do before i go to the drags
thats pretty awsome power for a stock b series boost

Cheers Myztery :)

its always a fun thing and scary racing a honda, more when you know the power outputs are similar... i always feel like the underdog, trying to prove a point that iv got a d16 with capabilities... but it would be good to see a b-turbo against a d-turbo with similar outputs

werid? why is vtec in so early?
I've seen Luke's and vtec only seems to be efficient at about 5k mark, and i saw this on the dyno

Yup that's correct..

Big hole spike any lower... for my setup

Some guys in the US mod VTec to be on the whole time but there running big numbers 400whp

Defeats the reason for VTec in the first place anyway

no SOHC vtec is only ignition if i rem rightly.
It doesn't have the lift to change the profiles.
So when vtec kicks in there is no big kick

There's gotta be some on the net but Jase,'JasonGilholme' on here has them and I think 'Alexx' does too. From my many dicussions with Jase and a lot of research into different types of coilovers,I concluded that these look the best for a street and track set-up.

Give Jase a PM,very friendly and he can give you more detail on them.It will be 2-3 months till I get em' yet.

brakes are important for the track, you wanna be able to stop well without brake fade so you don't end up in a wall somewhere.

ALso other thing to invest in is baffled sump & oil cooler

well here is an update of whats been happening,
got done with a defect so i had to get the noise and anti-tampering test done, so i chased down a motor and gearbox, intake, exhaust, ecu, air box all thanks to uncle kevin rudd for the paying the expenses lol... then gave the car and motor to Benji.
He gave it back all stock, then went and passed the epa test for the second time.
fags rejected me the first time on the account i had a aftermarket intake and an external map sensor...

Far i forgot what n/a felt like lol... So now that i passed i gotta get rego first then put everything back in hahaha back to spoolin very soon...

y not just get it engineered?

theres more to it than just a certificate,
1. you need to pass the epa test first, you cant engineer with a epa defect.
2. even with a certificate you can still get sent to the epa
3. Epa will turn the heads if you have a emmisions test done at a rta with photographic evidence being documented showing that you passed

Yeah I second that...

Far less work and they can't fuk with you

as stated above, i decided to go the full legit way no matter how hard it is...less hassles in the long run...they can still fuk with you, as long as your car is registered and driven on the road they can do whatever...

Limbo
06-05-2009, 11:59 PM
your right, if they really want to mess with you they can still defect you.

But if you are engineered properly, even if they send you to the pits it will just get checked and crossed off.

Most cops will not even bother with you if your engineered most of the times.

I'm with Rac roadside assistance and i recently upgraded my generic roadside assistance to classic roadside assistance for an extra $39 and it gives me heaps of extra's. One mainly which i loved upto 100km's free towing as many times as you want in a year.

Used it twice since i upgraded 2 weeks ago. usually like 60-80 bucks a tow, saved myself over $100 already.

It looks like you have made a good start ! but a few things would need attention to detail. Hoseing the same colour, loombs run nearly together and cable tied (or tucked).

As i said looks like you have made a great start..

While you doing work on your bay, personally i would look into plumbing back your BOV as well as HPC coating, or heat wrapping (cheaper alternative) your ramhorn and dump pipe, as well as a turbo bag. That setup is going to produce a shitload of heat... and prevention is better then the cure, especially when you have put down some really nice paint. By the way is it House of kolor Kandy?

Stay motivated and keep up the good work
