This is how the story goes. lol
We decided to go fishing one night.. and SOMEONE didnt feel like driving..
so im like what the hell... ill drive.. full car load, lowest setting not a problem!
near san souci somewhere Joe/JDM70Y drives through a set of lights no dramas (in his dads commo of course not the s2gay).. i didnt notice it.. but there was a crazy NOT NORMAL frikken ditch in the road very un even! went straight through it at normal speed... then BANG the bottom end of the car bottomed out with the fat fockers in the back!
i thought nothing of it.. thought it was just my under carriage of my car hitting.. my exhaust note sounded the same.. so thought what the hell it was nothing.
pull over at the fishing spot 5 mins later...... Harold (est1989) decides to look under my car with the light.. to come to his suprise there is no more BEAKS tiebar...
left back at that road.. i couldnt be bothered to go back for it as theres not much of a point.. would of been demolished..
Then we went fishing.. catching no fish of course.. Joe ended up catching crabs LOL..
Well at the end of the day no damaged was caused to the car.. and lucky there was no traffic behind me..
here it is what it used to be
http://img521.imageshack.us/img521/4367/beakswz3.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
and here is what i left of the Beaks tie bar..
These peices were still sitting where they were mounted (inner LCA bolt)
the weight of the car pushed down on the L shaped brackets and cleanly snapped write OFF!

in pink is where the above pieces came from.. the brackets of the beaks tie bar.
in yellow is NOW my imaginery Beaks tie bar :(

If you can fit a beaks bar, your car's not low enough.

Sir_vtec
26-10-2008, 11:35 PM
Snapped clean from the looks of it in the pics.
ASR protected the subframe. thats what its suppose to do
dupac->
27-10-2008, 10:29 AM
yeah no sub frame damage. Had i good look while i was taking off them broken brackets. Thank god for the asr brace. I wouldnt recommend beaks for low cars with no asr brace.

If the ASR brace had hit the road, would you have felt like crying? Looks like the Beaks bar sacrificed itself to protect the ASR brace. LOL

Wouldn't the ASR do the same job as the beaks bar why have both ?

in an impact anything is going to break or weaken. regardless its best that it absorbs the force and shatters rather than takes a hit , gets hairline fractures and falls off at a later date lol
btw ASR FTW

haha i dunno if the car could bottom out that much without going airborne
lol

beaks tie bar is just a useless bling bling rod.. joins from both lower lca bolts.. like the pic i drew..
they dont do the same thing

Doesn't the ASR brace also joins both the lower LCA bolts together?
trism
27-10-2008, 07:21 PM
yes but the primary purpose of the ASR is the subframe brace
the role of teh beaks tie bar is to help with LCA flex
and bling
bennjamin

to add , any tie bar is to help prevent LCA-to-subframe connection flex , that is - the bushes themselves.

Doesn't the ASR brace also joins both the lower LCA bolts together?
yes it does.. it sits on the same bolts but just on the outside of the asr brace.. so really having the asr brace is enough.. so really the beaks tie bar didnt do anything.
