Hey,

Today i went round my car and i had a close look at my suspension, im no wizz or anything, but is this normal? to me it looks like the spring has sorta pop'd out of the holding.. is this a problem?

This is from an ej8 rear, running OEM shocks and Kmac lowering 3inch springs.

Thanks all! really appreciate any feedback:thumbsup:

happens to cars running shocks with the wrong stroke ratio.
The shock sits up too high & the spring is too low, so when you go over speed humps or launch up the spring pops out.

Best to get a shock that can handle the lower spring

did you do the springs yourself?

the springs are not captive.(not held in the perch while static) They have every chance to "pop" out on bigbumps and diagonal movements (over driveways or speed bumps etc)

yes its not the best for handling and when you say it can 'pop out' is true, it can do as pictured above thus ultimately changing your spring rate and ride.

but it will not 'pop out' of your shock as this is impossible seeing as your piston runs between the spring and the spring is fairly narrow anyways as i've seen these in person (they are really short).

dont worry too much about it if youre just driving daily, jsut make sure you nudge it back in place and check it often. im sure there are many many people running springs that are non-captive!

Its pretty harsh, but ive grown to like it, i like driving a stiff car imo i dont like sailing the seven seas on stock springs :P

Yeh all done, went to kmart tire and auto they jacked it up for free nd fixed it up... i think i need new shocks though, i think that one in the pic is leaking... and also.. im not exactly certain what it is but, the rear right seems to make a squeaky sound sometimes whenever i go over a bump, whats up with that?
