Hey people, in the process of my build, the mechanic has struck a barrier, he's in the process of in stalling my lsd into my gearbox, the lsd is a helical lsd out of a CIVIC EK9, INTEGRA TYPE R DC2 cl1, the problem hes incounted is the final drive gear is too small in the inner diameter by about 7mm, though everything else needs to be the same, 64 teeth, 190mm full diameter, its going in my 93 crx delsol b16a, can anyone help with this situation or knows of someone who has had the same problems and can send me in the right direction?

Yep.... ITR/CTR ring gear ID is larger than what is found in B16A gearboxes.

Possible solutions; either find OEM ITR/CTR FD set... or start looking for aftermarket one to fit the OEM LSD.

Well your end result will be you can get the car back together and drive the bloody thing. :)

FD = Final Drive
CTR = 4.4
ITR = 4.7

Basically if you are happy with the gearing as is... you are wanting to get a CTR FD.... same 4.4 as your B16A final drive.

ITR FD set with the 4.7 is considered by most as an upgrade at the same time.... better acceleration albiet higher rpm at any speed (read: only a real concern to some people at highway speeds.)

the mechanic told me to change the final drive gear it still needs to have 64 teeth, whats the chances of finding one 4.4 because the only ones ive seen have 66 teeth

In order to FIT a EK9 or DC2R LSD you'll need to run DC2/R Final drive. IMO try sourcing a ITR 4.7FD while you have the box apart.

mate you've been told, ask your mechanic what a final drive is.
You need to replace your b16 final drive with an itr final drive to fit the lsd.

not that i have to explain myself MATE, but i brought the topic up again to get more opinions the more information the better, i already understand that you have to change the fd to a itr gear

What else do you need? You've been given the exact answer to your question, why would you need more opinions for more information when you've already been given the answer.

Play nicely. Everyone else is just going to either say the same thing or just ignore your thread because the answer has already been provided. :thumbsup:

hahahahaha, well one of my questions wasnt answered, so yes i did need more information, the question was would i get a fd gear with 64 teeth the same measurements as the 66 teeth, but dont worry cos im just gonna get the same answer from everyone else "apparently"

A different number of teeth means the FD has different ratio. What FD ratio is the 64 tooth FD and the 66 tooth FD that you are referring to?

thats just t im not sure what ratio my standard gearbox is, and im not sure exactly what the lsd is either, but i just bought a 4.4:1 fd with pinion shaft i think its called

If it is the stock original gearbox and original engine, it should be 4.266. 4.4 should sort you out, since the EK9 and DC2R's final drives are also 4.4.

Another option could be to get an aftermarket LSD suited to your current final drive

For your reference the B16a gearbox uses the same final drive bolt pattern as the "LS" or B18b gearboxes. The "GSR" or VTiR B18c uses the same as the CTR/ITR gearboxes.

hey aaronng, the earlier model ITRs were 4.4FD, but the later model 98+ were 4.7FD
