View Full Version : Another RB1 with Double DIN

evolution

Finally got around to installing my aftermarket stereo. Basically this is what I got

Genuine Honda 2 DIN dash replacement
Genuine Honda factory radio replacement facia
Genuine Honda storage box to replace CD changer
Clarion MAX686BT Multimedia Head Unit
Clarion OHM107VD Overhead Monitor with DVD player
PAC SWI-JAC steering wheel control interface

Only thing I'm not satisfied with is the replacement facia for the factory stereo, the bloody thing is darker than the other woodgain panels and the grain is going up-down where all the others is going left-right. it is very obvious in photos.:(

Evo, does it really need the L/R center joints or just the center bracket for fixing a headunit? don't tell me u order them fm SuperGT HKG................

evolution
04-11-2008, 10:33 AM
Those parts are a minimum requirement as a frame to hold the head unit in.

No I didn't get it from them, I just used them to get most of the part numbers and to have an idea of what the parts look like. I got the parts shipped over by Thian Seng in Singapore

I thought you already got your parts? The parts list was actually taken from your earlier thread except for the facia replacement and storage box..

IMO.
Depends if you are going to put a 2 DIN unit in the future or just going to customise the touch screen and oem LCD screen for your carputer. If 2 DIN then might as well get them as they are pretty cheap (centre is S$32, left and right S$12 each. If just for carputer than maybe can get away with not having them. Btw, what I ordered did not come with any screws, but the installer said it was not a problem as they woud provided them with the install

Yes I know, yours is brand new also. Just saying that you are getting it at half price and if it is a genuine set, then go for it. But then it makes me think how they can sell it at such a price? Aus_accord's set is genuine second hand set from JDM land and it already costs that much.

hey Dan, Evo is correct, check if its genuine Honda parts otherwise make sure the quality is good. the fitment is tight up there and always expose to sunlight in Australia you know....... have seen some replicas in China cracked within a week.

18-02-2009, 08:03 AM
thats true even in Japan the 2nd hand one already cost more than that, but you never know in Indonesia anything is possible . . .

thats really a bargain maybe I should ask my friend too . . .

I'll ask my friend to confirm it. In indo, even if it's genuine, you still can bargain, you just need to the right person hehe

I've been thinking to put either 8" or 6.5" under the middle storage console
That place is of no use anyway, apart from storing the CD case.

77237-SFE-003ZC : YR304L : garnet madrone brown print

For what it's worth if you can come up with a part number for the genuine kit you are looking for and ask the parts person at the local dealership they can put in a request, sometime Honda will sell to other domestic markets, typically items like this get called "consult parts" in the Honda system and they won't give you an answer right away so give them your number and assuming they are capable they will call u back with an answer, dispite what others say dealership parts arnt always bullshit expensive the EG double din console for example was surprisingly cheap new.

Seriously find that hard to believe... maybe times have changed. The dealerships I asked before just said sorry, can't get them on the spot.

It's cause it's a ****around and really the time it takes generally isn't worth it. More likely however the kit may well be discontinued as Honda don't make accesories for that long

Options would be:

Ask traders in OzHonda if they can bring it in (Gaijin-Garage?). Maybe try JDM Concept, I seem to recall them stocking the 2DIN parts at one stage.

Ask someone in South East Asia to order the parts from stockist there (I have used a Singapore based stockist - Thian Seng Motors to get OEM parts, pretty good people to deal with)

Ask JDM exporters (like Jesse Streeter, import monster etc) to see if they can get second hand parts from yahoo japan auctions
http://auctions.search.yahoo.co.jp/search?ei=UTF-8&p=rb1+2din&oq=&n=100&auccat=0&slider=0&tab_ex=commerce&s1=cbids&o1=a

Ask Honda Australia if they can bring in the parts since you have all the part numbers.

Good luck
