FANATK

The new Integra Type S made its debut at the motor show yesterday, replacing the Type R.
Power is now to 154Kw up 7Kw and also gets a new six-speed close ratio box and bigger/louder exhaust system for better sound. Also usual cosmetic changes to lights bumpers etc.
Thats all i know so far :)
Good and bad news i guess, no type r but a type s with more power!
Is this for real? Honda Aus are gonna sell this in showrooms? I'm gonna trade in my dc2!!!

well we've always had the type s here (badged type r) now we actually get it badged type s and also gain the 7kw due to usual power increases on a model updates along with cosmetic changes.

i wonder how much they will sell these for???.. hmm.. what colour as well..
It is missing many of the things the present type r has and 7kw doesnt amount to much in a car that is likely to be heavier
FANATK

i agree, bet it weighs more than the type r due to luxury items and some lightweight type r items...

current type-r = type-s
current type-r = type-s
no it's not
the engine is not k20a2...it's k20z1 with modified intake manifold
our type R has LSD...new type S doesn't
7kw doesn't make up for the weight...

type s should be slower than the current type r.
The new type s are too fat and heavy.
Rip out all the luxury sh*t, then it a different story.

AUS type-r and us type-s are even more different
differences are recaro, sunroof, leather, bodykit, LSD...

can some rich bastard just buy a jdm dc5r, own it for a yr, and import it into aus so everyone'll just shut up...
or the rich bastard just get the ausdm dc5r and mod it into the jdm dc5r
i'd realli like to see that

if this is true, HA has do it again. This time doing more for type s and to the current typr r owners...it's like saying "OWNED"
...well all these type s and type r it just the badging difference, if its not missing this, it will be missing that but it will never be the JDM type r..
i say forget abt this type r or type s stuff, jsut buy a type s and badge it ur way and if you have that extra cash..strip the lux BS and put in the type r interior and anything from the type r and although 7kw is not alot but its still something, end of the day a type s can be a type r depending on how much you want it and now with a 7kw more :D
ultimately this just gonna be an endless A vs B disscussion of which is better. bottomline is to one with a big budget, nothing is expensive and to one with little or no budget, everything is expensive
strip a luxury and pay how much for recaros???
The type s will be costing over 50+ just to get it resembling a type r
=P~~~

i agree
if i won the lottery, i'd grab a dc5 shell put a jdm k20 in it and build my own type r from the ground up!! :D
but some1 else said... u gotta be crazy

What luxury features does it have that the type R doesn't?
I dont know anything about the dc5s...
there are many people doing jdm conversions...such as brembo kit, lca, front sway...
and there are heaps that are hardcore modding their australian dc5r to to as fast as the jdm type r on the track...
for those that are doing this, they really don't care much about not having the jdm dc5r anyway
hey does anyone have any pics on the new type s and a spec sheet maybe?...i might be interested in getting one if its better then the dc2 and dc5

We don't need a Type R that isn't a 'real' Type R. At least a Type S is more honest (as would be VTi-R) and doesn't soften the Type R badge to all the enthusiasts out there.
Oh and the wheels are an enormous improvement... All it needs now are some healthy brembos, HIDs, recaros.... oh well.

meh looks crap i own a current r which is commonly called a "S" by people on this forum that are one tracked minded thinking that we don’t come with a couple of things like the jdm immediately makes us a type s (reminder to them: “it’s Australia not Japan”) but aye im not slightly intimidated by the new up coming teg with a extra 7 kw, these fancy arse colours and comforts..

new Integra on Honda Australia website

Whats interesting is that in the description, it says it has new 17inch wheels but in the Specs its only got 16s. I think its 17s cause they do look bigger.

So what the new Type-S don't provide compare to the Type-R?

I dun get it what so ugly about the facelifted interior, it's the same as the pre - facelifted version with a new look dash and HU being the major changes inside.

To be honest, I wouldn't really care, it's not a Type-R, if I wanted a Type-R i'll buy it 2nd hand.
No point in whinging if you knew beforehand what the car's specification was at the showroom floor, if you hate it don't buy it.
At least i'm grateful we even got the Type R.

hey all... i know this doesnt mean too much to some, but HA have also made the Type S about $2-3k cheaper than the previous model type r. Some people complain about not having recaros, yet the seats in the type s are still kick ass, and are LEATHER. I think people should be weighing up features that actually matter in the car.... and in all aspects besides maybe looking a bit more agressive, they have improved with the Type S
