Just wondering how much impact the low temprature thermostat and fan switch has on fuel economy? I've heard some people say as bad as 7%. Anyone actually running these items?

I have them. There's absolutely no effect to fuel economy from them.

yeah me too... no issues... i wonder how one goes about measuring a 7% decrease in fuel economy from a simple thermostat and fan switch anyway? hmm

*shakes head* Can I ask who told you this?
I have ARC thermo and Mugen Switch....... and there is no difference except for the slight increase in cooling performance..... I do not see how the fan being actiavated possibly a little more often can have a 7 % effect on fuel consumption... or any effect on fuel consumption at all.

It's a well known fact that colder water temps translates to lower fuel economy. Just wondering how much it effects the B16 thats all. I've seen claims anywhere from nothing to 7% from variouis people with diffrent motors. Thanks for the feedback anyway. Looks like I don't have anything to worry about. :)

i do notice when the fan starts blowing, the revs do increase a tad bit...
but i wouldn't think it would make a 7% difference to fuel consumption

what have you been reading?
Go to an engineering library and read some of the automotive thermal managment books. Or even just google "gas mileage thermostat" and you will see...
