Hi there,
I have a 94 Vti-R Integra lowered with AEM cold air intake, and 2 ¼ inch cat back exhaust.
I was just wondering how my car would hold up against one of those Toyota Corolla Sportivo’s, as I had an encounter with one on the weekend and was quite surprised as I ended up looking at the rear wheel of one… :(
Am I just a bad driver or are corolla sportivo’s quick or something?
Any input would be great.

Don't underestimate thos crappy little cars - they are quite quick. You might have had a dodgy start as well or up against a really good driver.
I know how you feel - my EK got done by a Hyundai Excel once. Sad, very sad day in my life... :(

yeh , driven well they can be quite quick, theres some dudes on toyotaownersclub with i/h/e and chipped and they claim they've beaten friend's dc2 and dc5 r's!
also, in stock form, i think motor recorded 0-100 in like 8.5 seconds, seems a bit sluggish, but overseas, the equivalent toyota t-sport recorded like a mid 7 0-100, so yeh, shows alot lies in how its driven! and also how u drive ur car ;P

Personally I believe that I did nothing too bad, start ok, his was a little better and shifting seemed ok.
The car is a black sportivo, is one that I always see around Doncaster in Melbourne. It’s dumped, has a kit, some sort of loud exhaust, and neat gold/grey rims, Advan I think, and has some plates that go something like 'SPTVIO'.
Yeah but anyways i was so surprised... and a confused.

Yeah apparently they're rather quickish.
A mate's friend had his dyno at 120kwatw this week, with simple mods and a chip. Another stock one dynoed at roughly 108kwatw on the same day.
They sound fairly competant, and looks like a DC4, DC2, EG5 and EK4 will get to find out sometime soon..... ;)
Will keep you updated! :)
My advise stay away from Sportivo and Clio Sport.. Especially if your not running coilovers of soem sort and have large sway bars.. they will out brake and out turn you in a big way.. trust me..
Hence I went to hell to get my brakes upgraded to ITR brakes.. I had a Clio up my ass and by brakes blew out..
Those little things fly..

I wouldn't even put a clio sport and sportivo in the same catagory... basicly they both have 4 wheels and an engine, the major similarities stop there.
You're talking refined euro engeniring Vs POS toyboata FOBgenering.

honestly it is up to individual drivers.... whether you shift correctly at the crucial point. I always blame myself if i lose to a driver with car of equal potential like sportivo, rex etc......... somedays you lose, some days you win. This is life. ;)

yeah there was a big thread on this a while ago and a couple of the toyota guys even jumped in and posted up some arguements and some helpful info, try and maybe search for that.they are quick cars when driven right. all i can say is dont underestimate them.

Thanks guys, pretty much answered my question, that being that they can be quite quick and that it also depends on the driver.
I think I want to see this chum again for another go, hopefully with different results. :p

ford probes are slow
they are the ford version of the mazda mx6.. same engine etc
2.5 v6... the aussie engine (KL03) puts out about 150hp or so, compared to the jspec (KL-ZE) which plows down a little over 200hp..

probes 2.5L V6 121KW
same motor as TX5/MX6/626...
good for stock 8.5s 0-100

only had a few very brief squirts with a sportivo, but it seemed to be of similar pace to a civic vti-r

yeah the corolla sportivo isnt too bad..zippy little thing. Coz it comes equiped with a celica engine it isnt lacking onions. But if u were to take your integra and the corolla down the track then it would be a totally different story. I was dissapointed that the sportivo didnt come with some form of better suspension package or lsd (open diff pfft). But yeah like ppl say u have ur days.

probably handles better than the stock vti-r integra ;)
for some reason, honda saw fit to equip the integra with a woefully inadequate set of springs, dampers and swaybars...
