There's a Honda I want to buy as a runner here in Vic, however in the vin no: it says 'rebuil'.
Did some research and it means the car was a repairable write off. It just ran out of rego in September. Apart from a few dings, car seems ok.
Can anyone elaborate further on what I need to check in this case and what I should ask the seller?

give vic road a ring.. if it rang out of rego i think they have to reassesi the car again before u can get registation... not too sure.
the car prob is not really safe as been a write off before so the chassi structura might be damaged and bend wich probly not be fixed up prob

"rebuil" doesnt mean its a repairable write off,
its just an imported vehicle with a local vin,
this was know as the "rebuild scheme"

Im pretty sure some rules would be the same across the board but here in WA - you get two types of write offs.
Economic Write off - its fixable and registrable just takes a bit of money and time
Statutory Write off - this car is being used for parts only and can not be back on the road ever again
yours sounds like its the first.
