Hey ppl.. Just wondering if any of you can recomend places to buy honda motors from, I have a d16y1 atm and its got 205000ks on it. Id like to get another motor the same or would a Rebuild be a cheaper option?
Thanks
Tim

is your engine ****ed ? or just tired ?

You can buy my D16Y1 minus ECU and Gearbox for $600.. HAHAHA has 180,000Kms on it :)

You lookin at $4-5,000 for a B16A swap, so you need to weigh up your options and your budget.

D15B is crap - the intake manifold is puny little crappy thing, the fuel rail etc looks like a straw ! the exhaust manifold also is terrible.. the D16Y1 is much better spec'd. I've driven D15B and it was no-where near the VTi Motor. and besides why would he go backwards with an engine swap - he already has a VTi. But I mean I dont care - I am not forcing my motor onto anybody.. is just there sitting on the ground gathering dust at the workshop.. it's a great little motor and i'd hate to see it wasted.

I'd consider a rebuild of your old motor and a Light Pressure Turbo Kit..

Hey thanks for the replies, I Live in the eastern subs of Syd. Id like to do a low pressure turbo but budget dosnt allow so id just like to replace with a lower k motor, as mine is tired...

Wat is your budget?
If your after a b16a swap (which would definatly be the next step up from a vti) then its gonna cost you around 4-5k .. which is enough for a cheap turbo setup...
I saw on firesport not too long ago a 2nd hand civic turbo kit for 2 or 3k..

Yeh Ive only really got about 1k to spend on a motor, Im not sure if this would cover the cost of a replacement motor or not, although i would be doing the job myself.

Hrm.. 1k wouldn't get you much, you said that you want another engine the same... Im sure you could pick up another d16y1 for that price and if your doing it yourself then no problems ey?

but...i say save your money and wait till the engine dies (ull be suprised how long honda engines will last you) and when that time does come, or is close to it, do a swap then ? =)

my d16 has done 211k already.. i jus had the engine reconditioned and full serviced.
i might do a swap when it reached 250k !! :)

If you sell your Y1 I'll be interested in the head and ECU.

What a shameless plug !LOL! Not worht saying this is crap or thats crap though both motors are just econoboxes.
