Hey everyone,
I have been looking at getting HIDs for my civic but as they are illegal when they're installed aftermarket I decided to get projectors instead for the looks...

However, on ebay i've found two types of what seems to be the same thing can you guys tell me what the difference is, and which is better to get?

The first one is more expensive at $328 + $133 for postage:
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/H14-05-08-Honda-Civic-PROJECTOR-HEADLIGHT-CCFL-HALO-RHD_W0QQitemZ350114937893QQcmdZViewItem?_trksid=p3 286.m20.l1116

The second one is cheaper at US$189 + $70 postage:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/CSX-CIVC-LED-Chrome-Headlight-CCFL-Halo-Ring-06-07-08_W0QQitemZ160295973434QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item16 0295973434&_trkparms=72%3A727|39%3A1|66%3A4|65%3A12|240%3A131 8&_trksid=p3911.c0.m14

Also when i get them will I be able to install them myself or should I get someone to do it in Melb?

Once installed I plan to use normal philips bulbs from autobarn like bluevision or something. Can I get HIDs in them later on even tho they are illegal?

Cheers

They look like the same to me... but I'd go the first one... as the picture of the car with the projectors installed are of a member's car on this forum: JaCe.

Go for the 1st one, not sure about CSX but i think there's a minor difference. i got my chrome angel eyes from taiwan not the same place but same headlights. i use HIDs 6k and i've driven pass police and haven't been stopped (touch wood :p).
For a standard car like BMW/Merc their HID's are 5200k so by putting a 6k its not much of a difference that you can tell. others like 8k or 10k you can easily tell because of the colour and brightness, the police will notice these easily and might/will pull you over.

If you can open your front bumper which should be easy by just pop out the caps under the wheel arch that hold it unscrew the top caps and pull from the headlight side. (its all clipped in). Unplug all cables, use a drill to take out screws and the headlight bracket. put bracket onto angel eye, plug back in. TADA! done :)

Yes, it is illegal. To make it legal, the HID must have a washer and auto leveler.

both are the same projectors from the same manufacturer..

CSX is LHD (Canada)

in melbourne, you'll need a set that is RHD (left is higher than right)
they're still illegal to install, been RBT-ed, stopped by cops for RBT and no issues with lights.

you could either DIY install or bring your car to a garage to install for u, and remember the bulb size is different for the eagle eyes. H7 for eagle eyes and HB4 for stock OEM. so if you're buying HIDs get H7 6000k. philips bulbs tend to melt the housing (often get friends complaining that they should've gotten HIDs)

good luck with the new mod!

when you install these projectors.
do you use the same type bulbs?
and can you adjust the height?

the height's adjustable however, the plates in the projectors aren't horizontally flat..

and nope, you don't use the same bulbs, HB4 is stock OEM, H7 for these projectors(eagle eyes)

washer is a sprayer to the headlamp. Those cars with HID (Euro Lux for example), on the bumper bar in front of the headlight, there is a little tab.
When they activate the washer, a jet water sprayer will pop up from the tab and clean the head light.

When there are some passengers, it tends to make the rear car lower than the front. This will cause the light projected upwards. Auto leveler will level the headlight so it won't blind incoming traffic.

If you still want to install HID, please be considerate of others by aiming down the light. It's really annoying to see bright light approaching straight at you.

lol.. the washer related anything to the HID install? how come illegal to install HID without that?

Here is the doc stating the legality of HID:
http://www.vicroads.vic.gov.au/NR/rdonlyres/78022EFD-3EC3-46EB-8F3E-6325190379F3/0/TestingTimes22.pdf
That's VIC rule. I don't know about other state.

dirty headlight will cause the light to scatter and potentially blind incoming traffic too.
