hey guys,

ive got a civic fd 08 model, its got about 13k's on the clock since brand new (Feb 08). I've purchased a set of skunk2 lowering springs and will get them installed soon. How long till my stock shocks will cease its use?

So if say, I installed at 14k's, when would i see the shocks to leak etc?

Just wanted a indication, as i'll be getting aftermarket shocks down the track. I didn't want to opt for coilovers, for the fact it was only for street daily use.

thanks!

How much the skunk2 springs lower your car by??

less then 1.5 inch drop = a good 50000K ontop i reckon since there almost new.
1.5inch to 2.5inch = 20-30k?
2.5inch+ = good bye shocks pretty quickly depending on driving habits and style.

Realli depends.. cause i've read people have gotten lowering springs + stock shock for like many years and haven't had a problem... soo i guess it comes down to how you drive, the drop of the springs,

the drop on the skunk2 springs are about 2.25" front and 2.00" rears which will sit flush on my stock 15"s until i get my 17" rims in the next few weeks.

I guess it will come down to my drivng style then aye, but for the instance of not lowering the car. How long would the stock shocks would have lasted?

Im going to see how it goes with the stock shocks and then probably get the sport shocks from the states in the next few months.

due to different road surfaces in different areas and different driving styles there is no real way to indicate how long the will last. Being a new car I believe they will easily last you to 50000km's and more. Ive been working with suspensions for a few years now and due to the factory shock having such a long throw I know that you wont have the shock bottomed out on itself.

Obviously the ride quality will be stiffer due to there being not as much travel, but you get that. Put it this way, a factory shocker will last you roughly 6-10 years if left stock? So you should get, and Im just guesstimating, 4-6 years with lowered springs. again depends on all sorts of conditions.
