mongoose and viper are a good brand. ive got a mongoose m80 myself right now, but have bought a chinese brand alarm called steelmate, the remote goes off aswell as the car alarm, so thats quite handy, have a look in ebay.

I'm quite impressed with my dynamco cyclops car alarm. Ryda and strathfield sell them, very cheap. But they're great quality with lots of features. Cost me $70 for a full alarm, with bonnet sensor, 2 remotes and immobiliser. Have had it in for 10 months now with no issues.

Dont go with a cheap mulit colour wiring alarm, Get an Autowatch, I install them into cars everyday and they have the BEST! warrenty. South african company and im sure as everyone knows that south africa is one of the car crime capitals, anyway go an autowatch 100%

the alarm is only as good as the install. if you find a cheap place to install for you, it'll be easier for a thief to break into your car. better pay a lot for the install because they'll take more then 5 hours to install it, which means a good job. you won't regret spending that extra couple hundred bucks.
