hey guys,
i got a problem with my car. its a eg5....
when im driving SOMETIMES it feels like im riding the clutch when im not...
but once i step on the accelerator a little bit more, say pass 3500 rev, it gets all the power back...

someone told me that my flywheel needs machining ?? not my clutch ??

any thoughts ?

thanks in advance

that's VTEC kicking in....haha

nah but seriously...if it was clutch slipping wouldn't you expect it to slip more towards peak torque instead of lower in the rev range?...i'm not sure but that's what i'm thinking..

Is it running aftermarket engine management with a bad tune?
Is air filter clean?
Is O2 sensor in working condition?

I dunno for sure but can try checking all the obvious stuff...

if you are getting no power then all of a sudden punch of power
might be your spark plug or spark plug lead is faulty

Yeah, I would also check the plugs, leads and dizzy cap. Also, is your ignition timing stock or advanced?

To test if your clutch is slipping put it into 3rd gear and try to take off (still in 3rd gear):
- If the revs just climb quickly and the car creeps forward slowly and fairly smoothly then it's pretty safe to say that your clutch is on the way out.
- If the engine stalls instantaneously after releasing the clutch pedal (or pulls away but shudders and hops till it's up to speed) then your clutch should be ok.

If you're satisfied that your clutch is fine then you should be focusing on what others have mentioned above (ignition system etc) - looking at the cause of 'hesitation'.

Note: The above clutch test should not be taken as 'gospel', but adapted as a basis for testing the clutch. Some cars with different final drive ratios can take off in higher gears without much hassle at all, but for this case it should be a fairly adequate testing basis.

recently found out that spark plug leads 2 and 4 were a little torn... the inside of the coil had actually snapped.

just changed the leads today... no problems yet but havent driven that long.

hope that does it!!

thanks for your help and everyone else that repied
