I have a honda accord wagon vtec 94 model..2.2 4 cyl 145 hp i believe..

but when i drive in the motor way in d4 normal or cruise control my rev is between 2800-3000.. but ive notice even smaller cars just like my bro and rents car when they at the motorway in 100 km/h they rev is 2400-2500. the car they hav is honda civic 93 and 2002 model and bmw 318i..

what is causing this?? if i travel 90 km/h i am in 2500-2600 rev

i am concern because it will drink more gas/petrol if i travel 2800-3000 rpm

and it seems not normal.. my car is well maintained and gives me 500km for the whole tank..

do you guys know what is my accords problem??

most cars will have a different RPM at certain speeds because the gear and diff ratios vary from car to car. Because every engine is different, some will drive at a slightly higher or lower RPM than others. Have you compared it to another car that is the same year/model/engine type? Is you car clearly indicating a problem of any sort? (e.g. Handling, throttle response, sounds, leaks, smells, smoke etc..)

cound the gears as you gear up, make sure you can feal all 4 gears being selected. after a while you might feal the tourque converter lock up. ( you cant always feal it ) this also drops the revs a bit, people often mistake it for a gear change on cars where its noticeable.

just for reference, if im on cruise control at about 80-90km/h and it is speeding up, it won't go higher than 2500rpm. even if its going up a hill and remaining 20km under the speed limit, it won't go past 2500rpm.
