Ok so I know im probably going to get flamed for this but still ill have a crack.

I currently have a dc2 vtir with a cai,5zigenheaders, highflow cat and a fujitsubo catback. I bought a skunk2 intake manifold a while ago and have been hesitant on wether I should install it. Ive researched alot and from every site im getting mixed answer on wether I will get gains from using it with stock ecu and no extra tune, meaning straight bolt on and turn car on.

So for this question, will I get any gains from running the intake manifold with a stock ecu?

Next question.
First time at the drags I ran a 15.117 with 17"x7.5 gramlights and shitty 205,40,17 nankang rubber and completely full trim incl full tank of fuel. Also running the mods I noted above and type-r suspension, everything else is stock.

I want a high 14 out of the car and I know with practise I will probably get it. Since I had been driving on my p's for about a month before I went out to the drags. If I upgrade to a lightened flywheel and new hd ceramic clutch, some t1r's/re001's on my stock 15x6 rims and maybe the intake manifold if the question above is answered, will I have a good chance of running a 14.9 or less?

I dont want to run semis and im not looking to get headwork for a while so im just trying to crack a 14 for the moment.
I also dont want to strip the car as its a pain for me since its my daily for school, work etc.

Thanks for your time :),
Andrew

alot of drag racing is based on suspension set up too. You don't want to bounce of the line with alot of wheel spin nor do you want to bog the car down getting a slow ET.

15's with RE001s/T1R's sounds like a good choice, just make sure you have the correct tyre pressure.

Can't see why a 14 isn't doable

Any answers for the first question?
IMO either put the stockies back on, get a 4.7 final drive or Type R gearbox.

Are you getting wheelhop at launch? If not, you are not launching hard enough.

Type-r gearbox isnt coming until I either break mine which wont happen for quite some time or till I get headwork, computer, etc.

Im wheelspinning first easily.
I launch using this method:

Handbrake up really hard
Clutch to biting point.
Rev to desired amount (my choice was 5000-6000ish, since I didnt know what to launch at since it was first time)
When you go let out clutch and handbrake at same time and go.

I found this was better then dropping the clutch as it only wheelspinned because I was accelerating to fast rather then the snap of dropping the clutch.

More answers to 1st question please.

whoever said it probably meant flatshift where you don't lift the throttle between gear shifts. Bad for gearbox and doesn't always make you faster depending on whether your wheels hop or slip when you engage the next gear.

with what you got you should be ablke to hit hi 14's pretty easily.. just keep practising and you'll be fine without any more mods.

if you upgrade the intake manifold upgrade the throttle body aswell..

i notice a difference with this in my b16a.

i managed to hit a 14.9 in my ek4.. after some unsuccessful nights running 15.1

practice !!

im sure i could of got abit quick with how my car was.. but i had the itch to mod.

so ill be back out there with new mods.. hopefully get a better time.
