Just bought a 1990 Civic GL Hatch, glad to be here on Oz Honda. Looking for some advice on where to get parts/installs/service etc..
This is my first car ever ! I'm a total noob.
He's stock at the moment.. bought it used with 140k's on it.
I'm going to leave him at train stations while im at work so I dont want to pimp it out like crazy.. plan to just tint the windows, get mags.
Inside I want to get it all carpeted black.
Im totally new to cars so I have no idea on costs.
Can anyone recommend a good place on the West side to get reliable service?
Also looking for some good value modifications.. shocks, etc, to put on it..
Can anyone recommend a remote keyless entry/alarm system & where to get it installed?? It was supposed to come with central locking but it doesnt work..

well you can get Kings to lower it it, much more "affordable" than coilovers.
Those alarm/ keyless entry kits u can pick up from car shops like autobarm, lots on ebay as well if u trust them. Think they come with instructional guides on how to wire it up but you can alway get the guys at autobarn or other car places to do it for you.

As Raztaz said get some lower king springs instead of coilovers. you wont need coilovers anyways. King Springs are about 80$? Not sure but they aren't very expensive.
Theres decent rims sold by trades, MAX-Hondapower about 700$ ish but of course they don't come with tires.
Theres lots of people from the west side so just ask around someone will be bound to give you lots of tips. =]
and WElcome to OzH =]

unless your going to take your car to the track ther isnt much point (well depends on a persons budget) in coilovers, very $$$$ as compared to just getting King lows

If you're deciding to take your car for racing or something or if its just A to B or something to look good then King springs aare the way to go. saving of $2,000! That could get you an EFI engine

Ha well, I dont know what to do with them or where to get them installed, so, I dont think I'll buy at this stage! I need an alarm/keyless entry, autobarn HC said it would be 1000 for the kit and install.. considering i dropped 5 on the car, doesnt make a whole lot of sense at this point

1K? screw that lol.
Any mechanic could install springs for you, a few traders here have workshops but they in the east.
i.e. Modproject in Clayton and AKmotorworks in Ringwood

It must be one hell of a hatch, inside and out, for $5K. I'd love to see some photos. I know these little buggers hold good resale value and your's was low kms.
