View Full Version : Cracking noise for CE28N

Hey guys,
With further googling being done, I've found that Honda has two hub sizes:
56.1mm
64.1mm
Based on this result that I've found, I've realised I made a mistake when I purchased these rims. Despite 15" CE28N J time Attack was designed for Honda but it appears it's actually for Honda with hub size of 64.1mm.
Any tips from anyone on this?
Thanks.

Go to a shop that sells aftermarket rims. Look for those shops with many bling bling rims on display.

Thanks aaronng.
Just checked their website. They appear to stock some hub rings and so I will contact them tomorrow to see if they have the size I need.

If youre hearing creaking sounds in full lock it might be a cv joint problem... just a thought
edit: at second glance your car is fairly new though, cv's are supposed to last quite a while

Yea I thought it might be cv
However, as a test, I've reverted back to stock wheels for a few drives and it appears to have no sound. Hence, very unlikely to be cv joint.
I hope it's not because I stuffed up the lug seats of my rims as a result of running without hub rings. However, I am using conical lug nuts by 5zigen and hence it couldn't because I am using the wrong nuts.

If it's only happening on u-turns, i reckon something else is up. I highly doubt the wheels are the cause of the issue.

centre bore doesnt matter. look at the ppl running 17" wheels on a EG, the bore size would be big ...
go with barefootbonzai's advice.

They run 17" on EG, but do they run without using hubcentric rings?

If you think your wheels are cracked, then it's too late for hub rings!!!!!

they promised me the world, took my money, and then I had to chase them for rings which never turned up. Got my cash back in the end.
My one and only experience with them, unfortunately. :thumbdwn::thumbdwn:
Go to the distributor in Whetherill Pk, a few blocks west of Honbits, overlooking a paddock.
Convince them you've looked everywhere, or get a referral from one of their wheel distributors.
That's what I had to do. Luckily, they could supply the necessary hub rings.
Nick.

What's the bore diameter and the hub diameter? If the bore is bigger than the hub, then it is recommended to use hub rings.

if its crackling noise it might be your wheel bearings? my gf car had the same problem apparently it was over tightened and the bearing was on its way out

anyway I've changed lug nuts from 5zigen long nuts to project kics.
The noise appears to be gone. But will still change for hub rings.
