Vtec solenoid question?

hey i have a 97 civic coupe D16Y8 EJ8

do all vtec's have the green solenoid cap?

Yeap, they should have especially your model. You should have the vtec solenoid. But however, you shouldn't see it with ivtec models like K20A

im not sure if its the ivtec model, mine doesnt have the vtec solenoid! but is it still the same engine

are you sure that you see it properly?you should have. your engine is not ivtec.

look through it again.you should have the solenoid

what i meant was is the green plug below the solenoid or the green wire running from the solenoid...is that always green?

Hmmm....it should be green by factory. unless it had been changed.

ok thanks.....is that plug and wire supposed to be green coz i have noticed all other ones i have seen have been green!

that wire is green just got the black thing around it to protect the wire.

and i think my plug is grey just like yours. i've got the y8 aswell.

So what is the issue with the colour of the wire? Yours is green and others is green? Hmm...you can consider getting a red marker to colour it red if you want.

that black thing is the heat shield. To prevent the wire from melting. :)

so is my engine a good motor to mod compared to other coupe engines?

It's a single cam. It's either you go for DOHC or you can start of with I/H/E or you might want to turbo it. Go to the technical section or search for ppl who mod this motor. It shouldnt take you long to search. cheers mate.
