vtir gearbox in ur del sol means it has longer gears. better for cruising but not for acceleration. wahonda.dailyforum.net for wa honda enthusiasts.

ahh k cool how about the top end factor? im talking about the box in the car and its effect on performance :)

as above, longer ratios.
Which will cause you to loose performance slighly in terms of acceleration.
But it will be more fuel efficient if you cruise alot

any positive performance besides fuel consumption to this mod?

ok you got it the wrong way i think
DC2 VTIR - longer ratios = slower acceleration, slightly better fuel consumption
B16a ( EK4) - shorter ratio = better acceleration, slightly worse fuel consumption
Other option is;
ITR - Shorter ratio + LSD = better acceleration again, worse again on fuel consumption

so practically i save fuel with a dc2 gearbox but how about top end any benefit there? i was thinkin since accelration is decreased wouldnt the top end be more stronger as its longer ratios? is that how it works?

nope ur top end will suffer. acceleration on the whole will become slower thats what the guy before was saying.
the only benefit is better fuel consumption and less changing of gears maybe if you think thats a benefit. i guess your top speed would be higher if you had enough power to reach it. but then again when are you gonna do that? not even on the track id say.

if your car is turbo and going 1/4 mile longer gears are better for ya, but sounds like ur stock so if go a itr box or stick to the b16, car will be slower.

ahh k thanks for the help im going to double check and make sure he didnt mean vti-r civic rather the vti-r integra coz from what i understand from this thread its better if i had the civic's gearbox instead of the teg's..

this page (http://www.teirney.net/civic/GearboxRatioReference.htm) might help regarding gear ratios of b series boxes
