Hi Everyone,

NB: Have already searched with little to no decent results.

Just out of curiousity and possibility of future car purchases. I am wondering what is involved in converting a '96-'98 EJ8 D16Y8(OBD2) to a B18C2 (OBD1). In terms of Engine Mounting, Driveshafts, ECU/electronics etc.

I am aware that I would need a OBD I -> OBD II conversion harness, Hasport (possibility of OEM?) Engine mounts. I'm looking for more detailed responses that outline the problems of the OBD conversion and lack of VTEC lines...etc...

Keep In Mind...I would have a half cut of a DC2. ECU, Electronics, Entire Engine...etc

Thank-You.

wouldn't you just use the whole wiring harness from the motor(obd1) and the same ecu so you don't need a converter?

if you have a complete half cut with shift linkages then there shouldn't be much more that you'll need for the conversion
though you may need a passenger side top engine mount bracket off an ek4/em1 because ek's use different mounts to dc's and eg's

Thanks for your Reply.

Yeah, but how would you address wiring issues from the ECU to other parts of the car....such as the Tacho, speed sensor etc. Surely you cant just plug the ECU in and everything works.

Also how would the P/S A/C work...I dont mind loosing air con however I do mind loosing powersteering. I assume because the B series engine was an option on the EM chassis that the EJ would support similar stuff.

Any experts on the matter feel free to PM me...your help would be muchly appreciated.
