I got the LED strips for the FD. I was hoping someone could help me with a DIY job... I've attached the strips with mounting tape. I need help for the wiring to the headlights (small ones). its a simple wire from the LEDs... (positive-negative) but it's the connection to the headlights that I need help for. This is a noob question :P Help!

It should be as simple as tapping into the parkers lights...
Just went and looked at my FN & CRV both the parker lights on the cars have a grey and brown cable..
Brown cable is Negative and Grey Cable is Positive..
Buy some cable tappers from repco they look like this and u should be sweet...

the difference in the brightness of the two strips might have to do with the different lengths in cable (resistence over time i think it's called? someone correct me please?).

I have a similar problem with the rear neons in my car. measure out the two sets of cables to the same length and cable tie where needed.

Should make them both the same brightness.

What'd u hook it upto Tim? I'm thinking of getting the eBay foggie kit and hooking LED strips upto that. It would look awesome.

I got my Inertior Neons from JayCar, and they are working fine off the car. LEDs i think do use more power but at the sizes concerned i don't think it would make to much difference.

LOl why does it matter if it use more power. ur cars on, its charging the battery.

Good point.

Use of power would only be an issue if you were running to much off you standard electrical system?

thanks for the great offer to help me out mate. I don't wanna trouble anyone too much, but if its as simple as just pulling out and connecting wires to the cigg port...then u reckon a complete novice can have a go at it?

ndeuro_
20-11-2008, 12:40 AM
yeah its simple just dont connect the wrong wires =]

But I want it to go on and off when my headlights are on and off...i dont think the ciggie port is the right wire for that purpose rite?

one source can be easily found is, pull the cover out under the steering wheel, you will see a bunch of wire down there, but you need to find out which one is the headlight switch wire, but isn't hard when you got the right tools

but having them on all the time shouldn't be a problem and much easier solution.:p

its other way round neons consume more energy than LEDS
