Brett.

This one looks good.It fits on the factory tow hook and is removable but it's for a 32 Skyline.Great idea, just need to find one for my civic.

I don't want to remove the bumper if I can avoid it.

to do an install right you will have to remove the bumper. If you cant do that, dont mod your car at all.

You could always do an under hood tow hook and just cut a hole in the hood itself like a drog car, then you wouldnt have to take of the front bumber :0

hehehe

Ok ok,I need to mount it on the bumper shock,a strap could be the go or maybe find another mounting point.Weld and bolt a tow hook on there.

I been looking at a few ideas...a custom one may be best.

you can get any aftermarket tow hook set up, but it will need to be bolted in, period.

Thanks Illegal.

If I weld and bolt on a custom job,is that going to OK for CAMS etc?

I think custom is my best bet.

if you can find someone that can weld aluminium to steel. Good luck with that.

How about a tow hook made from steel.Just need to find a spot,a design, then get it fabbed up.I know a place that's cheap.

I just want to rig up something that will work and is as hidden as possible OR removeable.

Do you know any that are selling Fatboy?

Make sure when you cut the hole in your front bar, the hole is large enough to get both hands with spanner and ratchet in. Cut some bigger hole if you need to swing the tools.

It will be okay for CAMS scrutineering as long as the "eye" meets the minimum requirement, which I think is 40mm.

When I was racing in Improved Production I bolted some webbing to the front but I never had cause to use it.

You can see the red strap hanging in the middle of the bumper in this photo. In the centre of the frame there is a bolt. You can take that out, put a big washer behind it, and double up the webbing (its like the stuff used for towing cars or even harness webbing) or wrap it around the frame. If you have cause to use it, just make sure the recovery vehicle doesn't jerk the tow rope but takes the slack up gradually.

Hope this helps you.

PS. I think a steel tow hook is a better option but this was a 'quick & dirty' that got me through scrutineering and I never bothered to change it.

Thanks Timo!

and Thanks jdm, that's a good way.Your car looks sick as!!

I was hoping to have one where you can't see it,maybe like and extension on the original one,so that when the hook is on there it's not going to rip the front bumper off.But that's whether that will work or not.It may be too close to the ground.

Actually that could be the go.And just tuck it in there when not at the track :)

Do you have to have a rear ow hook?

Thanks again mate!

Big Help!

Yes you do. Same spec.

Here's mine. It's a more conventional one, attached to the tow point in the centre under the bumper with two small steel plates and some big ass bolts.
