I have two gauges I'm looking to wire into my EJ8s lighting system, I'd like to hook them up to the dimmer if at all possible, any takers? Rep points given :)

What do you want exactly? Do you want the gauge light to come on only when your headlights are on?

Get under the dash, find your Lighting wire with a multimeter or test lamp.

Put dimmer in line with the power going to gauge.

coons just connect it to that light next to ur ciggie lighter. all my neons n shit connect up to there. and if u want it to come on when ur ignition come on then connect it to ur ciggie lighter.

black - ground
red - 12v or ciggie lighter
yellow - dimmer (usually)
orange - illumination >>> goes to any lights that turns on when u flick teh switch.

if ur in melb im free to help =]

dimmers should be that pin on ur instrumental cluster. if not then its in ur audio wiring diagram somewhere

thanks mate, would you suggesting running a fuse in line anywhere?

No, because there is already 1 between the battery and the instrument lights.

You only need a fuse if you are running a line from the battery to your gauges.

but yeah i wouldnt bother with the dimmer. just connect up the 12v ground and illumination. if ur gauge comes with two colour. connect one of them to the vtec signal. =]

I assume red is power, black is ground and orange is illumination?

Just connect the orange to at switchable 12V source. Of course if all your gauge does is dim, then connect it to your glovebox or cigarette lighter light. If the gauge changes colour, then connect it to the vtec solenoid +ve.

my cig doesnt have a light nor does my glovebox (how I'd like a light in there some days)
