Any difference in the 2 sway bars?
or are they identical?

If any differences what are they?

atm im running a whiteline sway bar.. and now they are hitting th LCA for some reason? i changed from my skunk2 LCA to the OEM LCA.. skunk2 were fine not hitting.

only real difference is that i may be abit lower in ride height due to the new coil overs. but i also raised it higher than it was with the old coil overs..

seem to be having clearance issues with it..

endlinks of the EK9 sway same as whiteline?

seems to be out of whack atm.. might take off the sway bar all together if thats the case... the coils seems to be doing their job without the RSB..

so shrugs*

id rather not raise the car..

just realised.. could offset of wheels come into play? as i did recently change wheels. tucks more? sits lower? etc etc..

lol i know this thread may seem all over the place.. but really cbf making it neat.. coming up with questions as i go

any experience or info would be good...

i might be purchasing a set of 16'' rims.. so might be able to fix the problem will sit a tad higher??

try turning the swaybar upsidedown it sometimes fixes this issue.
I know when i had different exhaust it use to hit and then i moved the brackets and turned it unside down and it worked.

Difference is that the ITR & CTR RSB are hollow, whereas the whiteline is solid

iknow the 98+ itr is 23mm , and hollow to save on weight. but the earlier itr and ctr afaik are solid.

pretty sure, a friend of mine had one and that's what he told me.
Also aren't the CTRs 98+? i know honda normally use the same parts all round.
Not sure about the earlier ITRs i never seen them much

anyway du, turn in upside-down and test first, save your money on a new beaks LOL

ive always though the ek9 and dc2r ones are solid. hence why they are so damn heavy
no information on the 23mm one

the ek9 sway and hte dc2r sway are different aswell, even though you can use the dc2r sway on the ek, provided you fill up the gaps on the ends of the bar with the little extra's that come with the asr kit

come round to my place, and whaack the 16"s on the rear. see if it makes any diff

regardless....id choose OEM parts over ANYTHING whiteline any day of the week Too much issues with fitment , quality and longevity.

yes was thiknking to go ek9 sway..

if theyre identical in length endlinks and so on.. if i can turn this whiteline sway upside down without any issues.. then id start looking for a ek9 sway bar

ay bennjamin to fit an ek9 sway bar kit to ek1 do I need to change my LCA's????

dupac->
13-11-2008, 02:31 PM
if there is no holes in the LCA then yes change the LCA to either a GLI ones or ek4/9 LCAS.

but because ur car is a ek1 suggest you get the ASR brace to protect ur subframe from tearing.

guys....

ALL eks share the same rear LCAs.

So there is no need to change.

bennjamin
13-11-2008, 02:42 PM
get ek9 . Much less mucking around. And ek4/ek9 endlinks too

Frankie
13-11-2008, 02:47 PM
okay yeh i would get the kit ek9 jdm concept sell them.. one more question where does the end of the sway bar bolt into??

vinnY
13-11-2008, 03:28 PM
the bar bolts to the asr brace or beaks kit(or whatever you have)
the endlinks bolt into the lower control arms
and as far as i know all ek's DO share the same rear lca, from all the lca's i've seen they have the sway bar holes in them ready for installation whether it be cxi, gli or vti-r

yeah guys i know the ek9 and Dc2r shape are different, but still pretty sure they were hollow, for weight reduction.

Feel the weight of the whiteline and you'll see what i mean the whiteline is alot heavier. Maybe someone who has both can compare. I think its hollow inside but not much, it still would be pretty stiff as it had to be designed to take the weight og the car

i got the whiteline its been good. Du just play with the whiteline and stop wasting your money on bling items ;P

pretty sure my dc2r rear sway bars solid.. probably a good 2-3 times the weight of my front carbing strut bar

du's a dirty whore who likes his bling

Yeh the EK9 ones feel pretty solid on the hand. Hard to tell if hollow or not. BTW anyone happen to have a CTR/ITR sway for EM1 pm ME =] haha

^ just be careful, if you get a dc2r one you have to get the swaybar inserts from asr to use your ek endlinks on them

simonnowis
13-11-2008, 05:29 PM
i think the ctr swaybar is solid, feels quite heavy and strong.
the only problem i found with the ek9 rear swaybar was that it got in the way of my hi-tech oval body muffler. so this sorta concerns me, as to what sort of mufflers will fit along with the swaybar.
dont know about whiteline, from appearance they seem to sit abit differently

All OEM dc2r swaybar i come across are solid. Dont know where your getting your info from.

my 2 cents on the hollow/solid arguments....

AFAIK

JDM dc2r came with 23mm (maybe hollow, maybe 98+) rear sway bars.

all others came with 22mm solid rear rear sway bars.

> try turning the swaybar upsidedown it sometimes fixes this issue.

dupac, can you post a pic or your swaybar installation? I think this issues comes up quite often.

simonnowis; strangely enough my mugen twinloop for ek hatch fits fine with the dc2r sway bar
RtN; not all the time, the basic kit doesn't strangely enough(got mine from jdm yard last year)

Limbo
13-11-2008, 09:12 PM
i guess its hard to change JDM whores LOL.

Mufflers just depends on who installed it and how they adjusted for the swaybar when they build the axle over bit

Fatboy, had a friend who had a hollow ITR sway and advised me not to get them & that the whiteline was better.
