View Full Version : so my car got written off..
well.. after only 3 months with my beloved DC5R, it got written off at an intersection by someone who sped up trying to avoid the red light as i was turning right...
the thing is, i was coming home from JDMyard too, with a boot load of stuff that was going to go on the car! nooooooooo... so i have all my mods, just no car now :( i was literally 30 seconds from home too.
my brother was taken to hospital, as blood was spilling everywhere from his nose, turned out his all good, bruised noise and has random nose bleeds at the moment. Mum freaked out badly, crying and shit.. dad stayed calm and took a ride in the ambos with my bro to the hospital. Police is investigating the matter, talking to witnesses and stuff etc.
well his the pics:

First pic is the blue camry and the front end of my car, my car literally spun 180 degrees and was stopped by two cars waiting at the lights, i was trying to turn right at the middle of the intersection. 4 car accident, 2 minor though.
Second pic was after the car was moved, the rear bumper was demolished too, by the cars i landed into.
now in the market for another DC5R, possibly DC2R after insurance pays me out. Preferably DC5R cause i have a shit load of mods ready for one already :S Not in a rush, so if you want to sell urgently, i'm not your man hahaha.
thanks for reading though. Hopefully i'll be back soon with another DC5R!
EDIT: Silver cars are bad luck, i've personally owned two, and another one was my mothers, all 3 silver cars were written off in pretty bad accidents, and i have heaps of friends with silver cars that keep getting into accidents. AHHAAH superstitious much?

damn man, glad to hear ur bros ok
hope insurance and stuff pans out smoothly
and yea maybe find a non silver DC5R =P
Im planning to salvage everything i can before its shipped to the insurance assessors, what exactly am i allowed to take? because i always thought if your car is written off and your insurance company decided to pay you out instead they technically "own" the wreck.

they do, though you should always enquire about how much itll cost for you to buy back the wreck. remember recaros are worth 1k, front cut at least 8k.

damn man bl to you and good to hear you and your brother is okay
but what i dont understand is how it happen.. where you going in opposite directions and you turned because you were in the middle of the intersecion and the light turned red .. or did you get a green arrow then got hit by the guy speeding up to avoid the red.

just outta interest, according 2 police or insurance, who is 2 blame 4 that, coz technically u should stand still until the cars have almost come 2 a stop, but if this bloke was actually speedin or ran the light im assuming its completely his fault, i wouldnt b surprised if they called it a 50-50%.

i guess i was trying to find this out aswell - id feel for you if both drivers were at fault in this situation considering your brother sustained injuries (and your car was nicer than that pos which hit you)

I have heard of one case where the situation was similar, and it was the person turning right who was at fault, not the car that ran the red light (he still got a red light fine) because the turning car should only turn if it is safe to do so.

got a silver dc5 integra, been involved in 3 accidents lol
twice was my own blunder, another time was some red p-plater being somehow oblivious to all the other stationary cars around him and his mind thought 'go' and rear ended my car.
superstitious? lol hrm...
but yeh, good to hear that u are ok, wen i had the accident i was shocked as hell

By statistics conducted by NRMA sliver is statisticaly more probable of being in an accident. I read that around a year ago. I didn't believe it until i bought my silver EK around 6 months ago, and only after 1 month on the road, some dick head RAMED STRAIGHT INTO ME COMMING OUT OF A SIDE STREET and wrecked me car. 100% his fault, i got paid.
but after that, YES I agree, SILVER IS BAD!!!
I think its because its like a mirror, and it reflects like mirror so people can't see the car that clearly? any other theories guys?

even the guy runs the red light, the guy turning right will always be wrong (according to my past experience with insurance company)
dude you jammed the traffic for ages! haha just kidding :( came from your right and saw a car in your rear bumper, thought ooft ouch... went infront of you and saw your side... and i cried a little on the inside. Hope everything works out for ya mate
btw awesome to hear no one was seriously hurt

yeah this is true going off my brothers experience
unless you had a green arrow to turn right - you will bear some, if not all the fault.. :(
insurance will cover you obviously but having to pay the excess + higher premiums is :thumbdwn:
hope thats not the case here though

badluck dude. nasty hit!
yeah. looks like you may to be blamed for the accident. as in you're at fault.
turning right.. you both were close the running to amber or even the red light.. both drivers assumed the other car wasnt gonna go for it.. but you both went for it.
so i guess you were meant to give way?
but yerr.. if you got comprehensive insurance then who cares..? pay the excess and get ur payout
pretty nasty crash good to see ur bro just coming out of that with a bruised nose.

I saw this a few days ago, just posting now...
The hit is smack on the side of the car,no wheel.
My door trims have been stripped and the bar that runs through door is the one that's being tested. The rest is nothing really.Interesting.
Just thinking out loud :)

So unlucky, sorry to hear. Next time, stay on your side of traffic until cars fully stop at the red light then go.
