Hi,
Just wondering if anybody has had the problem of a Euro running rough after replacing the battery. Mine seems to be idling rough. It also now seems to have a "rev limiter" at about 4500rpm. It will not rev any higher than this. The engine just cuts out and then picks up again until it hits 4500rpm and the process continures. It is a 04 Euro.
I rang the local dealer and they said that I have to take it in to be put on the computer for an hour to sort out the rough idle, but that they will have to investigate further on the rev limitng thing.
Any help would be appreciated

Try disconnecting the negative terminal for 3 minutes and then putting it back on. If that doesn't work, you should try to check if there are any CEL codes stored.

is it only letting you rev to 4500rpm when stationary?
becuase thats normal... thats there to protect the engine...
if its doing it when driving? i would have no idea what that problem is... maybe its in vallett mode? (not sure is AUDM euros have it)
limp mode will only let you rev to 3000rpm (disconnect your MAP sensor if you ever wanna see what limp mode is)
id say recheck everything first, you may have bumped something or left something undone....

What mods have you got on it?
and when you mean rough do you mean by different vibrations and noise or just a deeper tone in engine noise?
As changing the battery would cause your engine to run rough for a few minutes and then it settles down.

No mods except for stereo gear.
The dealer claims that after a battery change you need to get a honda computer check and it takes about an hour.
I will try driving it in the morning and see if the revs thing fixes itself.
It just seems to idle a bit rough. The engine is normally silky smooth but at idle it is now not as smooth.
I just wanted to get some advice before getting ripped off by the dealer!

^^^^ Agreed.... taking out battery does nothing to the computer... Euro is all EPROM memory... it doesnt self reset!

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^AGR EED,
It does nothing, when disconnecting the battery for say a few minutes, it results in the car running rougher for a 1-2mins and then it settles down from the ECU adjusting back to original readings.
And as i've been told by many people on the forum that the Euro ECU cannot be fully reset anyhow from the memory that it uses EEPROM if i recall.

EEPROM is for the ignition, fuel and cam timing maps. Short term and long term fuel trim should be wiped when the battery is disconnected.
Battery disconnecting is good if the ECU has frozen up because you told it to divide by zero.

I rang the dealer with my concerns. That is, I am going to be charged for something that I don't really need?
They said that it is called an "Idle Relearn". They didn't charge me for doing it. A young apprentice came out and hooked a little handheld computer to the car and did his magic. Thay then left the car idling for a while. I They then turned it off for a minute and restarted it and away I went. He claimed that if you don't do this you get increased fuel economy.
The fact that they didn't charge me, I thought what the hell, I'll get it done. Whether or not it makes any difference, I'll never be able to tell as I only did about fifty K's after replacing the battery before getting the "Idle Relearn"
It is nice to see the dealer looking after their customers for a change.

Did it solve the rough idle problem?

Seems to have. Although maybe it was because I hadn't been driving the car much in the last couple of months.

As above...
I just replaced my battery today for an AC Delco 430CCA Sealed Battery. Part Number: S55B24LS cost $110.00.
Then went down to my friendly Honda dealership and they did the "idle relarn" for me. Took about 20mins to do including changing the battery.
Car now idles better, starts easier and feels zippier to boot!
