Hey guys,

ive done some searches but havnt found the specific answer to my question. My car overheats because my fans dont work. but when i turn the ac on, they switch on and cool down the engine.

How do i fix this problem, how much will it cost and is it easily fixable?

Thanks

It's the temperature sending unit on your thermostat housing. to test it get a paper clip and jump it and your fan should turn on and stay on. you can use this as a temporary fix or you can just leave it. if you want to have the fan running all the time when your car is on. I just leave it running all the time on my car.

I think that it is possible that the ECT sensor that reads the coolant temperature and tells the ECU when to turn on the fans is faulty. Refer to this thread for info on the sensor LINK (http://www.ozhonda.com/forum/showthread.php?t=40005&highlight=coolant+temperature+sensor) and how to test it, from that thread it sounds like the two pins on the sensor should be open circuit at low temps and closed when hot.

I am sure someone with more experience with B series will chime in soon.

EDIT: Too slow. What he said ^^

wouldn't be, Repco won't sell genuine parts, all their brands are generic but pretty much the same deal

Mine died on my maroon DA9. I replaced it with a $0.50 switch from Dick Smith, and it usually stays on permanently.
