[CL9] air conditioning service? worth it or hogwash?

as per title of the thread...

reason why I'm asking is because my dealer sent me a letter saying I could get a summer promotional special for servicing and sanitising my a/c unit/ducts/vents for $120.

I do use my a/c unit very often, and I've only had my car for about 2 years now. so was wondering if this $120 is worth spending, or should I save it to buy myself a giant bag of lollies instead?

If there are no smells and no problems, then no, don't do it. Even if there were smells, I wouldn't do it for $120 unless it included taking out all the A/C ducting to be manually cleaned. If all they do is flow ozone through, then no, $120 is a ripoff.

its prob just a pollen filter change and a bit of anti bacterial spray. Unless your air con smells funky theres no point.

They change the Pollen filter every 60,000 as part of the service schedule anyway (I think, well they did with mine anyway).

If your Airconditioning was not as cold as it should be, then you would get an AC service which would be a regas and check for any leaks.

This is just a money spinner for some service department. It is a disgrace that they try and rip unsuspecting customers off in this way. Bordering on fraudulent.

for my previous car overseas in hot and humid condition, I never service the air condition other then cleaning the filters for like 6 years. Got the car from brand new, keep it nice and clean, and the air condition wouldnt give you any problems.

You will get smell or problems due the filter being dirty or the hoses clogged.
