yet another suspension/coilover question sure to fusturate :P

after reading a fair bit about tein flex coil-overs i purchased a set from JDM yard, who told me the tein flex was fine for street as i can adjust the damper as well as height. therefore it isnt too stiff for a purely dd application.

since i paid for it tho, some people have been telling me that any aftermarket coil-overs will be 'horrific' in terms of driver comfort compared to stock suspension.
whilst the dealer at JDM yard seems fully trustworthy and was very good to deal with, maybe his definition of 'too stiff' was different to mine?

my original intentions was obviously to buy a coilover set to lower my car and improve handling, but its use is purely a dd. i dont plan around taking it to the track

have i doomed myself to feeling every bump in the road?! :(

sorry for the essay, just attempting to relieve myself

Yonas is a legend, and guaranteed he's a bit more hardcore than some people on here. But I'm sure you can trust him if he says "its okay daily driver".

You have already paid for it, stop being a pessimist and let us know your thoughts for them after you put it on. Install them, put it on the softest and let us know how you think it feels for a daily. Then set it to Mid/Hardest for a mountain run, and let us know again if it's worth the $2k.

I think you will be okay. I wouldn't describe the ride comfort on Flexes to be 'horrific' with 8/10 spring rates.

I daily around on 14/24 and I still think it is quite tolerable.

Hey man
I should have my Tein Flex installed this week (fingers crossed).
The guy I bought them from was a rally suspension technician for RalliArt.
He told me that they will be okay on the street. The twin tube design is more suited to street than a mono tube design.

what rim/tyres do you have?
having a tyre profile that allows the sidewall to flex more easily may help you out if you think the ride is too harsh.

if you just wanted to lower it and improve handling a bit then u should have gone with aftermarket springs and shocks. would have been cheaper and more comfortable too

mono flexes are fuking comfortable. should be similiar to flex.

considering the ride height im at atm... the monoflex are king..

slap the idiot who told u that!

yonas knows what hes on about.. if u want comfort of a stock sussy car.. then dont mod it simple.

but the flex should be sweeet

If it's Monoflex. They are amazing. Not too stiff for the street. They absorbs bumps like no other coilover I have felt. They are a nice firm. It's all the MSV (Mirco Speed Valve).

Regular flex are great aswell! But are a bit firmer over smaller faster bumps.

You bought a product without know anything about it?
Dupac is right, if you want a comfy car, then don't mod - simple.

Lower it, get camber and the chicks will come. Don't be a poof.

Nah i didn't blindly drop 2.5K :D
I read alot about them here, clubITR and some other random websites as well as speaking to a mate at home who is running them on a DC2R.

Just that i had a look at ClubRSX after i bought them i guess, and the responses i got spooked me a bit haha...as shebangs said im just being a pessimist :P
