hey guys,

my car is lowered on buddyclub N+ (prolli 2.5" or 3" on rear) and i'm currently riding on 18 x 7.5 43+ offset. I have an ingalls rear camber kit installed.

I took my car to get the wheels aligned to ensure that my rear's weren't cambered too much. The camber reading was -3 and -1.59, however the guy said I couldn't really adjust it much at all because it will scrub the guard..

I didn't think it would be too much of a problem since it's 18 x 7.5 43+. Is there any way around this besides raising the car?

How bad is a -3 and -1.59 camber?

I asked whether I should roll the guards and the guy said, it's best not to roll the guards as it may cause the paint to crack afterwards...

Just would like your opinion.

Thanks

how big of a gap is that in terms of finger space from tyre surface to guards?

You shouldn't need to run that sort of camber with 18x7.5 +43 wheels.

-1 to -1.5 should be all you need in the rear. Allignments aren't that expensive but tyres are, so why not give it a go at say -1.3 in the rear and see if you have any rubbing issues.

What width tyres are you running?

the more you have... the more chicks you'll pull.

hmmmm.. well the place that i went to get my wheels aligned said they couldn't do it cause it was going to hit the guard.. i might take it to another place and get a second opinion.

in terms of tyre width.. i'm not too sure.. i'm running a 35 profile, but i'll have to check later to see the width..

i was running 0.5 finger and i was scrapping the right guard a bit. so raise it back up 5mm which was then fine.

i am running 40 profile and surprised with 35 you would still be scrapping, unless that your +43 plays a big difference in what you can and can't adjust as it sit closer in.

can't remember the settings now but it's <1 per side and he did it to suit for driveability. He said he can't change the settings to what aaron recommended, as it would hit the guards.

maybe your car is just too low? tyre width makes a big difference though. a 235 width tyres will have a few mm less clearance than a 225 tyre.

The wheels you have are definitely a good width/offset it might just be because your car is too low.

If you have -1.59 on one side and it is not rubbing, the tyre place should have set the other side from -3 to -1.59 to match. Seeing that they didn't, I don't have a good opinion of that shop......

well they said that they couldn't because if they straighten it, it will hit the guard..

sounds like you really are too low.

Chris_F

is it -1.59 and -3 on either side at the rear?

or is it -1.59 at both fronts and -3 at both rears?

if it's -1.59 on one side at the rear and -3 at the other side (like Aaron said) then there is no reason why the -3 side can't be adjusted to -1.59. What works for one side should work for the other

well they said that they couldn't because if they straighten it, it will hit the guard..

but if one side already has a camber reading of -1.59 and that side does not rub then the other side should be able to be set to have a -1.59 reading also and that shouldn't rub as the other side doesn't

Like Chris said, one side is already -1.59. So changing the other side to -1.59 should clear as long as your suspension is not bent, tyres are the same size on both sides and your car is lowered the same on both sides.

The rear spec is -1.00 degrees anyway, you're not supposed to set it to 0 degrees, which seems like what the tyre shop wanted to do but couldn't.

Like a previous poster said.. if the right side -1.59 and it clears the guard fine, then you shouldbe definately be able to adjust the left side to -1.59 too!.. And since the shop you took it too doesnt seem like know what they talking about, try taking it somewhere else!

yeah i had a feeling they were a bit noob.. i think they just made that excuse because they didn't have the tool to do it..

they initially said "can u bring it back next time as we don't have a big enough tool to adjust the camber kit".. and then they turned around and said "can't do it"

^ just show the other thread that you bought a set of D2 coilovers, install them first before you get your wheel alignment done, if not you will need to do it again once you install the coilovers.

oh wait a week or two before you get a wheel alignment done after the install of the coilovers only because then you can adjust the car's height to your desired height during that time (some people go to low in the excitement and then find you its too hard to get around with that height)

thanks for the advice, however the d2 coilovers are for the gf's car which is a 2008 Accord, not my euro...

^ oopss :o but still advise for your gf's car, you will need a wheel alignment once you lower it.

yeah i will, i'll get it aligned maybe 2 weeks after the coilovers are installed so that it's settled..

i've gone and got my wheels aligned, it seems the last place gave me an incorrect reading. Rather than -3 and -1.59, it was -2.23 and -1.56. The before and after below:

Before:

Front Toe: +2 and +0.9
Front Camber: -1.1 and -0.53

Rear Toe: +3.5 and +0.2
Rear Camber: -2.23 and -1.56

After:

Front Toe: +0.3 and +0.3
Front Camber: -1.1 and -0.51

Rear Toe: +0.5 and +0.5
Rear Camber: -1.52 and -1.52

No scrubbing as well.. the guy was very helpful and quite happy as my mind is at ease..

it was quite cheap.. only $60.. and he was great.. well worth the money as he adjusted the arms, the camber and explained everything to me..

it was done at Tyreland, 25 Elizabeth St, Wetherill Park. A guy named Ash.

Drives good, i guess i can't really notice much difference as i'm quite a novice when it comes to cars and i don't pay attention to all the minor details..

Top one auto (Arncliffe), IS Motorracing (Rockdale), $250-300

yeah.. i'll be going top one.. they installed my N+ on my euro.. but they're busy which means i have to leave my car for the whole day there.. i was hoping to just go there, wait 2 hours and then leave.. but all other places are busy on Sat.. and all places charge much more than Top One.

Crapdaz

how much was top one for you? cause i had a quote from IS that it was $250 and they quoted me an extra $150 for EDFC install.

For 2008 Honda Accord, $220... I got my Euro done by them and it only cost me $180.
I called Wholesale Suspension (penrith) and Pedders and they both quoted $300. I also called ProConcept and they said $500-$600, however this was with alignment and something about balance or something.. i can't recall..
