Done my 200,000km service about 4 months ago and I've put another 2000km on my '95 Vti-r since then. All new belts were put on during service.

The other day my air con belt snapped n twisted itself around the lower pulley for the power steering. Got out, had a look and realised the nuts for the power steering mounting were loose. How the hek could this have happened? I've put a new power steering belt on for now but not the a/c belt. Will this be ok to run for a while without this belt?

Im no real mechanic so any help would be greatly appreciated. Cheers

if all the belts were replaced during your 200k service and its snapped then you should be taking it back to the place where you got the work done.

without knowing anything it sounds as though the mech may have missed something, not installed it properly etc

should be fine to run withouth the a/c belt, you just wont have a/c hah - as long as you have the alternator belt still goin so your battery stays charged you should be fine

but take it back to your mech asap

ah man LOL

no use to you now but imo should have went to an actual certified mechanic when carrying out major services such as belt changes etc. even though they charge you abit least you know you can push back if something goes wrong..

anyway take it to a 'proper' mechanic and get it sorted - make your friend pay for some of it too since it was his work that got you into this mess

belts could have been done up to tight, or the pully is damaged that causes the belt to destroy it self.
