ok..
so i just bought my dc2r today, and i noticed its making the same noise my del sol did.
when the clutch is out, like a ticking noise, clutch in, its gone.
last time i posted, it was said to be isb, or thrust bearing.. changed both.
still did it.

now im worried...

is it a honda thing or what?

is it anything to worry about?

hmm got your pm man,
is it for all gears? i don't think its a common honda thing. Hopefully someone whos a bit more experienced than me can help you out, it shouldn't be anything to worry about.

na not really...
its only noticeable while the clutch is out.
its just a pain because its like the problem is stalking me from car to car.
last time in my delsol, it was said to be the isb and thrust bearing, but changing them did nothing
so im needing to know what else it may be
anyones help would be greatly appreciated.. it may be something, or nothing
but labour to even look at it is a bit lol as everyone knows

ever changed the release bearing?
my civic did the same thing.
i suspected it was the release bearing.

cause, it made no sound in all gears with clutch disengaged.
made a sound under load with low rpm in all gears.
made a sound in idle when cold, more noticable.
made no sound in neutral while cruising clutch disengaged.

i just finished a clutch install today - customer complained of same/similar noise.
took the slave piston apart (that pushes the release bearing fork onto the pressure plate) - and it was dry inside. No lube of any type. Filled it again with grease and did al teh rest and noise completely gone. This can be done easily with only a 12mm spanner (take off the slave cylinder)

 id go with that too.
come to think of it, my loss of pedal on my old civic was probably a sign.
if you have loss of pedal + that noise i reckon replace the slave cylinder. cause i tried bleeding and didnt help. =]
gotta keep this in mind.

took us about 4-5 hrs to change the clutch.....gona take u like maybe 0.5hrs? hope im right ben...after what i learn today LOL

lol you learnt something...dont know exactly what lol.

anyway , to replace or check te slave cylinder isnt hard.

remove the clutch fluid hard line and soft line bolts in teh engine bay (10mm)

you need a 12mm spanner and some general purpose high temp grease. Undo the 2 x 12mm bolts holding the slave cylinder to the side of the gearbox. remove when engine is COLD. After you remove them , slowly slide out the piston out. Pull the metal "knob" out and off the slave cylinder , check that its lubricated , add grease if necessary. Slide back in , slip the rubber boot back onto the piston. applygrease to the fork end and piston end , reinstall and see how that goes

ok..
undo all those then just put some grease in where exactly?
pic helps.

if i leave it a bit will it do any damage to the box?

bennjamin

undo it like pictured - then see that small rubber boot with the metal knob end ?pull that off slowly and you will find it is a small piston. Remove the piston , apply grease inside that rubber boot and put the piston back in with te boot over it. put a good amount of grease on the knob end too and reinstall
