Hi guys
Just wondering if anyone has a towbar fitted to their DC2R? I am looking at purchasing a go-kart to compliment doing motorkhanas in the Type-R, and I need to tow a trailer with the kart and spares. In total it wouldn't be more than 350kg. I have noticed that the car manual suggests that the car was not mean for towing, but a towbar shop quoted me around $260 for fitting. He did mention though that they would have to cut a hole in the rear bumper which I wasn't keen on.

I wouldn't use a DC2R for towing - not enough down low torque, it would put a fair strain on the motor.
But yeah, it's your car.

I have never seen a dc2r with a tow bar... it would be an interesting sight... even though I would warn against it.

hmmmm those things weigh a tonne... like carrying two extra passengers all the time... NOOOO don't do it.
There is a section on towing in the owners manual, max wight is something like 400kgs.
heh, I take that back.....

A falcodore might have to be my option, but I'll probably have to get a towbar on the wife's shopping trolley in the short term.
Hahaha... that's just funny... using a race car to tow a trailer... :P

That was the idea to use the race car to tow the gokart. Would have been a good look, but I wasn't keen on a hole through the bumper. Maybe some roof racks with the gokart on top!!

please dont do that to ur dc2r!
(Using the gf's account again)
What was the outcome to this?
My missus has a dc4 and races karts. I used to race and used to use my r33 as a tow car. The r33 is being sold so if she wants to keep racing she will have to use the integra.
Any idea where i can source one?
Ok answered my own question.
Haymann reece do an off the shelf bar for dc2 and dc4's.

dont put a towbar on it! it'd be like when you see an evo 9 or STI with roof racks (N)
Its a $4000 dc4, its hardly ruining it!
The r33 towbar is as good as invisible and im not putting a bar on the ralliart colt.
Roof racks however, now you have me thinking :p

Your car can do it for sure. I've pulled a trailer with a 150kg motorbike in it with my wheezy NA Laser tx3. It is also a 1.6 litre engine, producing what felt a lot like 50kw at the front wheels. Hahaha! Fuel economy gets really bad if you try to do 100kp/h, but sticking at about 90kp/h won't do anything bad.

if its a DC4, no one cares, pick up a cheap rear bar for it and get it painted if ur are so upset about it.
