Malfunction Indicator Lamp is ON

Hi guys,

My gf's prelude 98 (tiptronic) vtir's malfunction indicator lamp keeps coming on. Also the speedometer, odometer stopped working and the D on the dashboard flashes all the time. I drove it this morning with GPS to know how fast I'm going. Also I noticed that when I let accelarator go, it jerks, it doesnt roll smoothly.

Could it be the gearbox?

Any ideas?

Check the vehicle speed sensor. Happened to our 94 Accord. D flashes, speedo would bounce up and down and then just shut off.

As for your malfunction indicator, read the error code.

Where can I find the error code?

98 Lude connector should be on pasenger side foot well...
Center consol side, & remove the lower front trim to access.
Bridge the 2 pin connector & check the code @ CEL light.

Could it be the gearbox coz the car jerks and it revs from 1000rpm back to 0rpm without pressing the gas?
