Hey guys bought my dc5r about 1 week ago and on trhe way home i started to hear a strange noise coming from the front of the car. Its a kind of whirring sound if that makes sense, i believe it does it at all speeds but becomes more noticeable the faster you travel. It sounds as tho its coming from the front left wheel... it has 50,000km on the clock
I didnt do anything about the noise as i thought it would go away but now it is starting to anoy me  pls help!!!

i suggest a full 100 point check at a reputable workshop.. Its hard to diagnose from just the noise.. It could be anything serious like a worn wear bearing.. or just some minor .. nt sure...

1.
When the brake pads are worn beyond the minimum thickness, the built in indicator will scrap producing a whirling like sound. However, this is only when u are braking..
Another cause could be dirty pads or shims that is causing the sound as you drive..
2.
To check if your wheel bearing is damaged, place car on "Jack Stands" NOT a jack.. and try and shake the wheel .. It is not suppose to have excessive movement other than steering directions.
I reckon the cheapest and fastest way to know what is going on is to pay for an obligation free suspension check at pedders about $15-$30 i think from memory.. They will check everything under your car and even do a shock absorber test.
Hope that helps you a little
