Hi mates,

I owned a 09 Honda Jazz Vti. Due to the car only have 1.5L of power, I need more information about getting an aftermarket wheels. Hope you guys can help.

I am thinking to get either 16'' or 17'' wheels. As stated, I wouldn't want the car to lost power after getting a set of wheels, is it better to go for 16''? Or I can get a Japanese light weight wheels on 17''?

Any recommended Brand, offset and width?

Please help. Thanks all in advance.
Appreciated to all that help.

Cheers..

i will vote for 16inch for remain the performance, but 17 inch would looks better. About brand and style, it is very depend on your personal choice. For mine, I got 16 inch copy work Cr Kai in white, it looks good on my blue one.

hi dyljoy.....wat width and offset do you use for your wheels? mind to tell around how much you spend for the wheels?
mind to share some photo?

dyljoy

sure, the size is 16x7, offset +38, fit with car perfectly, it cost around $850 to my door.
here is the link (http://www.ozhonda.com/forum/showthread.php?t=100359) of pic.

that's nice....very clean....
will it rub if you lower your car?
is the wheel heavy? notice and difference in power after u put the wheels on?

dyljoy
23-11-2008, 07:19 PM
i think should be fine even lower the car. the weight is normal, but it should be lighter than OEM steel wheel. not much difference i can feel after change the rim.

23-11-2008, 07:22 PM
oh...thanks for your info

I am thinking to get 17'' japanese wheels....not sure whether it will have power difference...what you recon?

dyljoy
23-11-2008, 07:27 PM
I think 16 or 17 inch wheel won't to much affect power of Jazz due to Jazz just 1.5L compact car. If you can afford the price, I will suggest u get 17', bigger looks better. what kind of wheel in your mind atm? btw, u got manual or auto? colour?

xqwzit
23-11-2008, 08:00 PM
you better get a offset which is higher than 40.
any lower you will have problems

simon8855
23-11-2008, 08:28 PM
I am thinking to get 17'' too but I am more concern about the losing power of the car....Japanese wheels are in my mind atm....I got a white jazz and I am would to get a gunmetal wheel with chrome rounding...btw, I got an auto...

what width should I got for 17'' and wat size of rubber?

My budget is around $2000 without rubber...any recommendations?

dyljoy
23-11-2008, 08:39 PM
I will recon 17x7 offset +42 ~+50. tyre size may choose 215/40/17. around $2000, u can buy buddy club P1, Work CR Kai or some Rays brand, but choice is yours, do some search before you buy.

simon8855
23-11-2008, 10:09 PM
I am thinking of those brand as well....still doing my research at the moment...
do you know any place have a cheaper price for those japanese wheels?

Anyone in this forum ever put 17'' on a Jazz before? share your experience please ....

looks nice, mate. car in white always can match so many type of rim.

FitRS
23-11-2008, 11:12 PM
If those are 16's then there's plenty of space for 17's even with lowering.

xqwzit
23-11-2008, 11:23 PM
there will be plenty of space to lower if you choose the correct offset around +45 and tyre with a 17x7 which the thread starter want. otherwise the tyre will hit the guard, with the specs i have now the tyres at the front is already around 0.9" outer than the guard.

but it can be solved with a camber kit and stiffer shocks.

use a tyre and offset calculator to keep the outer position around 0.5 - 1" will be the most safe to lower.

its just the $

damn right, mate.

16 is the best for jazz ;)

dont want too big.. or else it would be come a roller blade shoes.. LOL!...
but its all depends on what kind of modification u after..

VIP 18" is a must :p
JDM look 16-17" the 15 just look small on the GE model.. =.=...

+42 is the most you wanted to go on the rims.. lower than that you cant dump the car..

dyljoy
24-11-2008, 07:34 PM
damn, my rim's offset is +38, that's mean I can't low my car in future? how about i just low it a bit, maybe 2 fingers' gap between the tyre and guard. coz i am not willing to super low on my car...

Poeter
24-11-2008, 09:47 PM
I personally think 17" is oversized for a jazz

you can! but you have to get some big neg chamber on it... to make the wheels tucked in to the guard.. or roll the guard ;)

*chamber tyre wear* gonna be ur enemy though

dyljoy
24-11-2008, 10:47 PM
oh, no. then i may change my mind on later coilover upgrade. don't want change my rim to suit new coilover or chamber kit sth

25-11-2008, 06:47 PM
wow...I am a bit busy this few days and there are so many replies...thanks all...

white colour with white wheels looks nice...my car is also white... lol
personally I won't get white wheels is because it is a night mare to clean it...might go with wheels with chrome rounding...any recommendation?

I am still thinking either to go 16'' or 17''....in the poll, most ppl recommended 16''....thinking to get 17'' but consider about the the acceleration of the car.....Japanese light weight wheels won't help if i go for 17''?

what is the recommended tyre profile to use for 16'' and 17'' ?

dyljoy
25-11-2008, 06:58 PM
hi, mate. u can get 17' japanese light weight wheel, but u need invest more than 16' for sure, such as Rays TE37, CE28N, or Advan RG, they are my recon and all of them very light, but their price aren't cheap. For tyre size, u can go for 205/45/16 or 195/50/16, and for 17", 215/45/17 is the best choice.

PS: Advan rim site(Japanese website) (http://www.yokohamatire.jp/yrc/japan/wheel/)

any idea on how much will be 16'' and 17'' of TE37, CE28N, Advan RG?
know any place that can order them?

wat about tyres? roughly how much will be for good brand? I got a set of 18'' Toyo T1R tyres and it cost me around $1200 for 4

dyljoy
25-11-2008, 07:25 PM
they all very exp atm due weak AUD, IMO even 16", any of them can hit over 3k very easily. u can try to ask some of OZtrader here, such as JDMyard, JDMconcept or Maxhondapower, they can get almost any brand of rim from Japan, and they are all trusted seller. If u don't mind get 2nd hand, u can contact J-import, they got some great 2nd rim with tyre from Japan, u also can get any rim from Japan Yahoo! from J-import, they can place the bid for u. For tyre, u can do some research around ur local tyre shop, or sometime u can get great deal from Ozhonda or Ebay.

If you want the look rather than reducing weight of the wheels just a get a copy 1 ;)

tyres on 17 usually set you about 1000-1100 for 4 (balance and fit)
16 would be arround 850-900

my price is based on the bridgstone adrenaline ....

Get some ce28n :p they comes with offset +48 4 X 100 16"... but forged would be very expensive LOL...

i was looking at them it was about 2500 just the rims it self .. :(

WHite wheels... is anoying to clean LOL !!... i have white on mine.. =.= hard to keep clean...

nice choice mate....just wondering will it hit the mud guard when u lower it?

how's the handling n performance compare to 16''?

FitRS
05-12-2008, 07:57 AM
Those tyres should give great handling, probably better than his old ones.

dyljoy
05-12-2008, 09:03 AM
FitRS is right, handling is decide by what kind of tyre u using, and new yokohama one feels better than dulop one. About the performance, i think not much difference due to they got similar weight.

About the lower side, coz i using offset+42 rim, so i shouldn't have any problem at rear side, but to the front side, it may got this issue, it will have chance to hit the guard if i lower the front too much otherwise should be safe or using camber kit to overcome it.

hi GTI-Jazz, just quick check for your from Rays site, its spec shown as below:

SIZE INSET HOLE P.C.D. BORE PRICE
(yen)

17 7J 43 4 100 φ56.1HC 41,000
・A center cap is not attached, please use an original manufacturer's product.
・The Renault Grand Scenic cannot be fitted.
・BORE(HC=Hub Centric)
・Taxes are not included in the prices.

So it should fit Jazz perfectly, coz my car using same size & offset without any single problem, cheers

PS: but i don't know why rays site says it only for BMW MINI, coz MINI not use 4 x 100
