"vtec doesnt feel as strong..." what are you comparing this to?
To another car?
Or how it used to feel?

yes it is normal. Your car accelerates hardest in its first few gears....typically 1st and 2nd. 3rd 4th and 5th are not for hard acceleration more so gradual to top speed.
So , the car has to pull the weight of the car plus increased wind resistance , and will not feel as "fast" as 1st or 2nd.

When was the last time you changed your oil? Have you checked your oil level?

on first gear and second i hear the vtec but the pull is not as strong as 3rd and 4 th gear is this normal?
i am referring to my dc2r
so you're actually saying that 3rd & 4th vtec engagement feels stronger than 1st & 2nd right?

lol 3rd and 4th gear vtec is illegal...

1st gear should get you to around 60kph in like 3.5-4 seconds...
60-100kph should take another 4 seconds roughly.
but depends how you launch
anyways that's for my car.
you should feel 1st gear and see the revs fly from 5k-8k rpm
second gear you should be able to feel a little....
3rd gear all the way to 140kph shouldn't feel much but sounds awesome...for those 6 seconds or so...LOL

reading that correctly i pressume youre thinking "vtec" has better pull those gears.

well 1.
dc2r is equipped with close ratio gears.
if you think gear 1 and 2 is not close enough of a ratio on a normal gsi or vtir, go see the difference and youll know why pull is stronger at 3rd and 4th.

with WOT (wide open throttle) in 1st and 2nd you wont feel enough pull cause you get pulld back in to your seat for a mere 2-3 seconds then clutch in, g force is eliminated, select second, dump the clutch, chirp the wheels, g force back in, then another 3-4 seconds, clutch in, g force gone, 3rd, clutch out and youre sitting on that gear for at least 5-10 seconds maybe more.

and by 2nd gear youre already doing 100-110km/h.
and the fact that the car is still pulling with substantial force at those speeds your brain assumes it has more pull.
when technically, you have MORE pull at 1st and 2nd.

its all in the mind.

I've noticed while owning a vtec vehicle the engine gets a lil bit more of a work out while hitting up the 8k rev range >_<.. and i've realised that changing the oil a lot more frequently helps keep the vtec-ing ability of the engine alot healthier. (obvious stuff i know)

different viscosity oils have actually made a difference in vtec response/power up too...

lol this is a funny thread....

sure is funny, just top up your oil to guarantee the correct oil pressure.

Its just like if you haven't warmed the car up enough and try to vtec..... without the oil pressure it doesn't work.

maybe you need a bigger vtec to go faster..
LOL!!
nah serzly vtec is over-rated... dont expect too much...
compare vtec to boost den you'll see..

different horses for different courses, imo boost is overrated....it is actually more of a compromise in smaller capacity engines, albeit very few exceptions.

Ahhh it depends what you like. All personal preferences. I have mainly raped but have also been raped by many turbo's at wakefield. So it all depends. NA is good on petrol for daily, and longer engine life... and has reponse, and revssss, which is always fun. Each to their own mang!
