I got the proper black out tape of amazon but havent fitted it yet.

Is there a technique to this?

if its not sticky, justlike electric tape then its really easy to apply. just hold it with one hand and stick the other end to one side and slowly run it on a angle with ur fingertip il the other end is stuck on. then u can carefully appy pressure so it would stick. make sure them airbubbles can escape or it will look shit =]

Did you get the trimbrite tape? How much did that cost, including shipping? Maybe I'm searching the wrong sellers or something, but last time I looked, there was a huge shipping fee of around $70 for a $5 item. Did I do something wrong? :p

So the electrical tape is "safe" to use then?

There won't be any glue or black pigment residues left over on the chrome if the tape comes off, due to sunlight/heat warping, or anything like that?

I bought some electrical tape a few weeks ago but decided against blacking out the chrome - wanted to opt for the proper black out chrome tape stuff, but it seems too hard to get.

Think I'll do this mod this weekend. Cheers ndeuro

np n yeah electric tape should be fine, its duck tape that u should worry about. cuz electrical tapes are design so to insulate the wires and its easy to come off n leave no sticky residues

Are you sure about that? Ive used electrical tape on some wiring and when i take it off, it leaves sticky residue.........But you can just wipe it over with degreaser and its gone.

That is the most rediculous 'mod' I have ever seen. Next you should make a lip out of guttering from bunnings :zip:

My thoughts: You have spent in order of at least $30,000 for a car and you cant afford $20 on some black spray paint . . .

Agreed.

I'm sure if he wanted he could have bought plain black electrical tape. In any case, the "nitto" labels do look kinda ghetto - in a good way.
